supporters. Your assistance and encouragement to our competitors is always appreciated.
Without sponsorship and the generous grants and donations received, this festival would not take place. Please note that it costs a minimum of $20 per item to run the festival. We simply could not ask our competitors for that amount.

Your sponsorship is acknowledged here in the programme, on the website and also verbally during the Festival whenever possible. All sponsors who contribute $50 or more will receive a “Festival Pass” which gives free admission for Two People to all sessions throughout this year’s Festival. Please enquire at the front desk for your pass if you don’t have one. If you have missed getting your sponsorship into the Programme, we will announce it at the festival. “Friends of SAPACS” For a minimum $20 donation, your name will have been placed in the front of this programme under our “Friends” list as well as on our web site homepage. You will also receive a “Festival Pass” on your first visit to the festival (enquire at the desk) which gives free admission for One Person to all sessions throughout this year’s Festival. CAFÉ AT HAWKINS THEATRE – Please support the Norris School of Dance, Papakura Please note that no catering is available at the Pukekohe venues. LIONS SHIELD – This trophy moves from section to section. In 2018 it will be presented to the most outstanding senior performer in the Speech Section. TOPNOTCH ENGRAVING (PUKEKOHE) GOLDEN JUBILEE TROPHY will be awarded to the Most Entertaining Junior Performer. This trophy moves from section to section with the Lions Shield. SOUND SYSTEM – The Hawkins Theatre Sound System will be used for the dancing Section. Competitors must have CD’s named and in good playing order. Tapes will not be accepted. Note: Scratched or re-recordable CD’s may not play on the theatre system. PRIZES: Under 12 years and Restricted - Medals First, Second and Third 12 years and over - First $12.00, Second $10.00, Third $8.00 • No competitor may perform the same item in more than one class, except in Restricted Classes and under 6
years.
BARBARA ALLAN CHALLENGE CUP Awarded for the Most Promising competitor in Classical Ballet – irrespective of age. DULCIE McLARIN CHALLENGE CUP Awarded for the Most Promising competitor taught by a teacher in the Franklin District. Not necessarily a prize winner, and not to be won more than once by the same person. Miniature kindly sponsored by the McLarin Family. YARR CHALLENGE TROPHY Awarded to local competitor (Franklin District) with Most Points – Under 12 years Miniature kindly sponsored by the Yarr Family. YARR CHALLENGE TROPHY Awarded to local competitor (Franklin District) with Most Points – 12 years & over Miniature kindly sponsored by the Yarr Family. DANCE EDUCATION CENTRE TROPHY for competitor showing promise and deserving of encouragement. BARBARA FRASER MEMORIAL CUP Awarded for the Best Interpretation of Barefoot – Under 15 years. Access to the backstage will require a pass in the form of a returnable lanyard. This will incur an $8 charge which covers the whole weekend, payable at the front desk, or purchased in advance. The stage door at Hawkins Theatre, which opens onto a narrow access driveway, is NOT to be used as a "first point of entry". ALL performers, parents, siblings, teachers, accompanists etc MUST report to the front desk. Please ask the competitors NOT to give access via the stage door unless cleared to do so by SAPACS personnel on stage duty. This is a safety and security issue as well. Every care has been taken with the processing of entries, sponsorship, requests for changes etc, but errors may have occurred. Please advise Lynda (email above) immediately of anything that needs to be added or amended.

DRAPER ACADEMY OF DANCE TROPHY Competitors in this class must enter and compete in at least
one other individual class. $300 1st prize. $150 2nd prize • In submitting your entry you have agreed to be available to compete at the National Final.
The prize money is to assist with your travel expenses. If you choose NOT to represent SAPACS at the national final, you may be asked to refund a portion of your prize money – depending on the circumstances of your withdrawal.
• Please note that if you have accepted a Nomination by another Society for this year's Young Performer Award, you may NOT compete at SAPACS in the Nomination Award class. This is a PACANZ rule.
• Please advise us if you are withdrawing from the Nomination Award class, for any reason, due to the amount of time these performances take.
• Entry fees for the Nomination Award are not refundable.
NATIONAL YOUNG PERFORMER AWARDS 2018 CRITERIA FOR BALLET A. Performers shall be 15 and under 19 years as at 1st of October 2018. B. Each performer shall compete in three classes during the preliminary round;
Solo Variation from any recognised classical repertoire which MAY or MAY not be from the list in B1 The selection, however, must show a clear contrast in style to the variation selected in section B.1. Nationals: All performers will
participate in a Technical Class conducted by or for the Adjudicator. No audience observation will be permitted. The Technical Class will be taken into consideration in determining the semi-finalists.

Nationals: C. There will be a semi-final of up to twelve performers who will repeat either B. 1 or B. 2 at the discretion of the
adjudicator. The number of semi-finalists is determined as per the NYPA rules 7.1-7.2. Competitors will be chosen based on
their marks in the Preliminary round(s). Nationals: D. For the Final Award Concert six performers will be recalled, and shall
repeat the item not performed at the semi final.
SOCIETY NOMINATION Each Society, which is a financial member of PACANZ, may nominate up to two competitors, who shall be selected by the
adjudicator, based on a performance as outlined in A, B1 and B2.
The adjudicator will determine that a competitor has displayed a sufficient standard of performance to competently represent
that society at the National Finals.
The standard required will be at the absolute discretion of the adjudicator but will include; 1. A demonstration of adequate preparation
2. An authority of performance
3. A performance with a level of maturity commensurate with a national final competition of this age group. If the
adjudicator considers that sufficient standard has NOT been reached by any competitor, then NO nomination will be made. The Nominating Society is responsible for paying part of the entry fee to the National Young Performer
Awards i.e. $75 inc gst. The Nominee is responsible for paying the rest of the entry fee to the National Young
Performer Awards i.e. $175.00 incl gst SUNDAY 12th AUGUST commencing at 8.30am (please note time)
