Series specifications
PACT marine Ballast Water Management SystemPACT marineTM consists of:
Filter – 40μm self-cleaning filterUV System – medium pressure UV(MPUV)Control System – UV power panel, control panel and online monitoring instrument (including flow meter, light intensity probe and temperature transmitter)
Self-cleaning Filter:Filter screen: PACT marine Ballast Water Management System uses a 40μm filter screen, which removes also TSS between 40~50μm which affects UV performance, therefore enhancing disinfection efficiency and reduces overall energy consumption significantly. The screen is made from a special grade of stainless steel, offering good corrosion-resistance and stable filtration performance.
Shell material of the filter:The filter’s shell is made from carbon steel, coated with 250 µm epoxy phenol and zinc phosphate, providing good corrosion resistance.
Back-flush mechanism:During filtration, solids accumulate on the screen surface, forming a filter cake. As filtration proceeds, the filter cake builds, and the filter differential pressure increases. When the differential pressure reaches the set value (typically 0.5bar), the self-cleaning mode triggers automatically. If the ballast pump is not in operation, the ship relies on gravity flow to ballast; and the self-cleaning mode can be triggered via a timer. Hence, the self-cleaning action can be controlled by 2 different methods:pressure switch or a timer. During self cleaning, proximity nozzles shuttles across the whole surface of the screen, retained solids is flushed from the screen and washed into the discharge pipe. A programmable logic controller(PLC)monitors & controls the whole process.
UV System:Compared with low pressure UV lamp technology, the medium pressure UV reactor has a higher pressure resistance volume and wider range of temperature tolerance. It includes a specific number and size of medium pressure UV lamps depending on the total ballast water flowrate. These lamps are housed in high quality quartz sleeves, which are housed in a corrosion resistant treatment
Benefits:Chemical-free, no toxic hazards to the ship and crewEquipped with self-cleaning motor to clean quartz sleevesOptimized power consumption (system automatically optimizes UV intensity, based on intake water quality)Small footprintEasy operation and maintenanceConsistent temperature-independent operation in all salinitiesConservative design, able to meet higher IMO discharge standard
