BALLAN PRIMARY SCHOOL LEARNING RESPECT COMMUNITY
‘To ensure that every child has the opportunity to be
the best that they can be.’
NEWSLETTER No. 19, 13th November 2018
Hello everyone,
Teachers are very busy at the moment testing
students and gathering data in preparation for
writing reports. During this time, we have been
celebrating the learning that has occurred with
each other and with the students. It is
absolutely fantastic to see the amount of growth that some
children have made during the school year. I am sure there will
be more celebrations to come as the testing is completed.
Last week was our first Kinder Transition morning and we
enjoyed meeting all the new children keen to be a ‘big kid’ at
school. We have a good enrolment of 30 new Preps for next year
and I am still taking enquiries for tours.
I am very excited about our new area beside the gym that has
been transformed into wonderful bike path. Earlier in the year
I was able to secure a Commonwealth grant focussed on
developing our Out of School Hours School Care program.
Geoffrey Bourke has cleared the whole area to make sure it can
be mowed and is safe for children and has constructed the path.
I would like to thank Cathryn Hynes for all her wonderful
expertise and support around this project. Our handyman will
be working on a new fence in the near future.
We will be organising a wheels day later in the term for
children to bring their bikes and have some fun on the track.
Class Structures and Student Numbers for 2019 We have been working on our planning for our 2019 student numbers and the best possible class structures to support our teaching and learning. 2019 class structures are as follows: 2 x Prep/One – Dorothy Greene & Greer Harney 2 x Year One/Two - James Baker & Roisin Mauriks 2 x Year Three/Four - Jo Adcock & Suzie Drew 1 x Four/Five - Carole Martin 2 x Year Five/Six – Paul Heeps & Kellie Leehane
PE and Art – Deb Hunter Italian – Pasqalia Cassar Science – TBA Our Specialist areas for 2019 will consist of Italian Language, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Science and PE. Other programs being offered in 2019 are our Instrumental Music program, Footsteps Dance program, Life Education Van, Swimming program and Kelly Sports program at lunchtimes and after school.
