Join the movement to end heart disease and stroke in women because it’s not just a

man’s disease. National Go Red Day is Friday, February 6. On Sunday, February 8th,

wear red and make a change during American Heart Month. Our goal is to improve

women’s knowledge of heart disease and stroke so that they can take action and

achieve longer, better heart-healthy lives.

HANDS ON HEART HEALTH

“My Heart, My Life”

The Go Red Luncheon, My Heart, My Life sponsored by Central North Alabama Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2015. The event is focused on women and heart disease and stroke. The luncheon includes a heart-healthy lunch, live entertainment, door prizes and a digital ad slide show presentation. The Go Red Luncheon is the Sorority’s signature Heart Health Awareness Event and is held at the Marriott Hotel, 5 Tranquility Base, Huntsville, Alabama. The Honorary Go Red Chairperson is The Honorable Laura Hall, Alabama House of Representatives, District 19. The Mistress of Ceremonies is Ms. Toni Terrell and the keynote speaker is Dr. Jennifer Kiessling, Huntsville Cardiologist. The chapter received a Distinguished Service Award in Physical and Mental Health for its Go Red Project during the Sorority’s 48th National Convention in 2008 and again during the 51st National Convention and Centennial Celebration in 2013. Attire for the event is a red dress or suit for ladies and a red tie for gentlemen. Tickets are $40 per person. Contact Dr. Fredonia B. Williams @ 256-837-7354. Go Red Sunday is February 8. It is a unique opportunity for participating area churches to educate, empower and mobilize the community around the issues of heart disease. Every woman attending church service is encouraged to wear red and share in our commitment to help save lives.

CHUCKLE FOR TODAY: My brother-in-law was puzzled by the odd messages left on his answering machine. Day after day, friends and family would talk and then say, "Beep."

He discovered the reason for the joke when he decided to listen to his greeting. "Hi," it said. "I'm not in right now, so please leave a beep after the message."
