Facility Description: The Zoellner Arts Center is a 19-year-old multi-venue arts center housing four departments, Art Gallery, Music, Presenting, and Theatre. All building resources are shared among these four departments. Zoellner has three performance spaces, Baker Hall, a 940-seat concert/ proscenium stage. Diamond Theatre, a 3/4 thrust stage seating 307, and the Black Box Theatre, a small multi-configuration space.
Technical Specifications ~ Baker Hall
Seating: Seating is continental. Handicapped seating is located at the back of the orchestra and grand tier. Usual capacity is 934, 283 orchestra, 473 grand tier and 178 balcony. 68 seats can be set on the orchestra lift to bring total seating to 1002. For a more intimate space an acoustically transparent curtain can be lowered behind the orchestra seating.
Stage Dimensions:
! Theatre Mode: proscenium opening is 37’-6”w x 25’-3”h. ! Concert Shell: proscenium opening is 58’-0”w x 25’-3”h. ! Stage depth from the plaster line is 31’-6”. ! Forestage depth from plaster line is 4’-9” with orchestra pit lowered. ! Forestage depth from plaster line is 17’-6” with orchestra pit raised. ! Orchestra pit dimensions are 12’9”d x 46’-6”w. ! Centerline to Stage left wall is 65’-0”. A portion of the stage left wing is used for storage and
office space. ! Centerline to Stage right wall is 36’-0”. Useable wing space is approximately 17’. ! Rough square footage of stage plus wing space is 3300 square feet. ! Audience floor to stage floor is 2’-7”. ! Orchestra pit @ pit level to stage floor is 8’-3”. ! Stage floor to overhead catwalks is 57’-0”. There is no gridiron. ! Plaster line to furthermost upstage line-set is 29’-0”.
Stage Floor:
! Stage floor is white oak tongue and groove, stained black, sprung on neoprene sleepers. ! A gray/ black Rosco dance floor is available. Rosin may be used. ! There are no traps in the floor.

Fly System: ! The fly system is a single purchase counter-weight system. ! The locking rail is located stage right @ 27’-0” from stage floor. ! Stage floor to pin rail is 27’-0”. ! Stage floor to loading floor is 45’-0”. ! There are 36 line-sets including the motorized main curtain and first electric. ! All operating lines are 3/4” Sta-Set X. ! Line-sets are rated for 1200 lbs. ! High trim is 55’-0” except for line 5 which trims at 44’-0”& 27 which trims at 42’-0”. ! The bottom of the orchestra ceilings trim @ 45’-0” when stored. ! Low trim is 4’-0”. ! Batten length is 56”-0”, except lines 5 & 27 which are 47’-0’. ! Batten spacing varies. Please see line-set schedule. ! Battens behind orchestra shell walls don’t fly past shell rigging easily.
Rigging:
! There is no grid. ! Stage floor to catwalk floor is 57’-0” ! Stage Floor to roof steel is 62’-0” ! Rigging is under hung. ! Not all I-beams are accessible from catwalks.
Masking:
! The main curtain & grand teaser are made of a red heavy weight velour with fullness. ! There are two full stage black traveler curtains. Both with fullness. 56’-0” x 24’-0”. ! 1 white leno-filled scrim, 56’-0” x 30’-0”. ! 1 black scrim, 56’-0” x 30-0”. ! 5 sets of black legs, 12’-0” x 24’-0”. 0% fullness. ! 4 black borders, 56’-0” x 10’-0”. 0% fullness.
Lighting Control:
! Control is an ETC Ion with 40 sub-masters. ! A remote focus unit is available as well as remote video cart. ! Dimmer per circuit, 2.4k ETC Sensors. ! Light board is located in light booth, at extreme house right, 39’ from stage and 15’ above the
audience. ! There are remote hookups located at audience level x-over and backstage.

Lighting Inventory:
! See attached for inventory. Please keep in mind that Zoellner is an academic institution and as such equipment is shared among three theatres.
Lighting Positions:
! #1 electric, line-set #5, is a motorized bridge with 40 circuits, 46’-8” long. ! #2 Electric, line-set #27, with 32 circuits, 46’-8” long. ! Over-stage electrics usually trim at an average 24’ due to the height of available soft goods. ! Other electrics can be added as needed. ! There are 40 circuits available in 4 circuit drop boxes. ! There are 78 other circuits located throughout the theatre. ! 3 hanging points for truss are located directly downstage of the architectural shell ceiling.
Each point is rated for 2000lbs. ! There is 1 articulated FOH catwalk with 48 circuits. Standard position is 32’ off stage floor. ! Two box booms are located house left & right at 18’ from plaster line. The standard hang is 9
units, in three rows of three. All are ETC 26º Source Fours. ! The FOH and Box Boom positions have unusual structural obstructions. Please contact the
Lighting Coordinator regarding these positions. ! There are eight 50lb round boom bases with 12’ and 21’ pipes available. ! 2 follow-spots are located at rear of balcony extreme house left & right.
Repertory Lighting Plot:
! A standard house rep is available, see attached. ! Specials may be added as needed, and color may be changed. ! The rep hang over-stage provides sufficient masking and coverage for basic lighting needs and
may be used as a general reference for spacing electrics and soft goods. ! Rep lighting paperwork can be provided electronically in Vectorworks, Lightwright, and/or
Adobe Acrobat files. Sound Control:
! The house mix position is extreme house left in the audience x-over 44’ from the stage. At no time is audience egress to be compromised. There is no dedicated house mix position.
Mixing Console:
! Yamaha LS932 (FOH).

Loudspeakers: ! The primary L/C/R system consists of 3 tri-amplified EAW ASR690e speakers. ! The balcony L/C/R/ system consists of 2 EAW MK2196B speakers left and right. The center
speaker is an EAW UB8ZW. All three are delayed. ! Front fill speakers consist of 6 removable EAW SL52 speakers. ! There are 2 EAW SB528zPi subwoofers permanently mounted. ! There are 6 EAW SM129z stage monitors. Six mixes are available from the FOH console. ! There are 6, 3 per side, QSC K8 powered speakers mounted onstage for use as stage side fill
monitors. ! There are 2 QSC K10 powered speakers available for side fills or front fills. ! There are 2 QSC K181 powered subwoofers ! All FOH speakers are controlled via a Symetrix SymNet DSP system. Software is kept up to
date. ! All power amplifiers are Crown CTS series. ! 2 hanging points for speakers are located directly downstage of the left and right primary
speakers. Each point is rated for 1700lbs. Audio Equipment:
! Check attached for inventory. Please keep in mind that Zoellner is an academic institution and as such equipment is shared among three theatres.
Monitor/ Intercom:
! A four channel wired Clear-Com system with patch points throughout the theatre is available. Channel D is reserved for paging.
! A two channel, four belt-pack BTR-800 Telex wireless system is available. ! Key Technical Services & Audience Services staff use 2-way radios to communicate as well. ! Backstage monitors also exist in most backstage areas. There is a 3-position switch that
changes which theatre is being monitored.
Company switch: ! 1 400 amp 3 phase switch is located up stage right. ! Tie-in must be arranged in advance. ! Direct lug-in is allowable or “new style” cam-locks may be used, adaptors are available. ! An additional 400 amp 3-phase switch is located in an adjacent theatre if needed. The feeder
cable needed to bring to Baker Hall is not in our inventory.

Orchestras Pit: ! The pit is located 8’-3” below the stage floor. The lift mechanism is a Gala Spiral lift and is
too noisy to use during productions. ! The pit seats about 45 musicians. ! The pit can be “seated,” adding 68 seats. ! There are various shapes and sizes of platforms available. ! 96 Wenger Symphony and 48 Wenger Musician’s chairs are available. ! 200 Mitylite folding chairs are also available for use. ! 80 Manhassett music stands and 60 lights are available. ! There are several conductor’s podiums to choose from ! We have 2 Steinway pianos, one 7’ and one 9’ concert grand. A Yamaha upright is also
available. Dressing / Laundry rooms:
Dressing rooms are located one floor below Baker Hall. ! Please keep in mind that Zoellner is an academic institution and as such equipment is shared
among three theatres. ! There are 2 individual dressing rooms with private shower/ washroom. ! There are 2 4-person dressing rooms with private shower/ & a shared washroom. ! There are 2 ensemble dressing rooms. The women’s seats 26 and the men’s19. Each has
showers and shared washrooms. ! The greenroom has a computer with high speed internet access, phone, refrigerator, and
microwave oven. Hospitality is usually located inside the greenroom or directly outside. ! Laundry room has a single washing machine & an electric dryer. ! An iron and a Jiffy steamer are available upon request. ! A wig dryer is available upon request. ! 4-6 portable wardrobe racks are available.
Loading Facilities:
! The loading dock is located on East Packer Ave. It is immediately to the right of the parking lot entrance.
! Dock will accommodate a 53’ trailer and tractor. Driveway opening is 14’ high. ! The loading dock opens onto a hallway leading directly to stage left. ! Door opening is 9’-0” x 9’-7” high. Hallway and inner doors will accommodate scenery at
least that height. ! The dock is 3’ above driveway & has an integral, adjustable dock plate.

Internet/ Phones: ! There is closed WiFi access available throughout the building. The production manager or
asst. production manager can help configure guest computers. ! There is a computer with internet access located in the greenroom for guest use. ! There are two computers backstage left for crew and guest use. ! There is a phone located in the greenroom for guest use. Long distance calls must be made
using calling cards.
