I got up on stage with El ‘vira in hand suddenly I was very nervous that’s when mom yelled, “Go Melody you can do it!” The head guy came over to me and politely said,” We heard you were coming and right away I went to work on this!” He gestured toward this special board for ME to use during the competition plus it was right at my height! What a surprise! I quickly pressed a button on El ‘vira….” Thank you a lot.” He replied, “Why you very welcome young lady” and he walked away.

All of a sudden, I was pumped and ready to go win! Claire, Molly, Rose, and Conner had just arrived and were just as ready as I was. Claire immediately went to go talk to one of the reporters. Then I thought my eyes have just deceived me…That reporter was Leif Ericson! I rolled my electric wheelchair as fast as I could over to him. Right away he turned toward me instead of Claire.
