OMEGA: In its standard config-uration, the OMEGA is a three-pocket portable MLOCR/BCRcapable of being operated by asingle individual. MLOCR pro-cessing speeds range from7,200to 10,000 while the BCR versionreaches 18,000 mail pieces perhour. The OMEGA can be con-figured as a Letter or Mixed MailSorter. The OMEGA was origi-nally designed as a Reject Proces-sor. The slower speed of theOMEGA allows for multipleOCR software lookups/recogni-tion attempts of an address blockbefore printing the barcode on themail piece.When running rejectedmail pieces from other OCR ma-chines, greater than a 70% readrate has been documented by

presort businesses using the OMEGA. Once barcoded, the mail piecescan be re-introduced into the mail flow of the high-speed sorter, sortedand trayed along with other mail allowing for a greater postage dis-count. Today, Omegas are additionally being used by marketing, bank-ing,and insurance companies to barcode their outgoing mailings and tosort incoming letters for internal distribution. Scanning 4" (let-ters)and 10.5” (flats) vertically, starting at the bottom of the mailpiece,and the length of the envelope horizontally, allows you the flexibil-ity of detecting and reading address block barcodes and barcodes placedin the lower right corner of the mail piece. FASTFORWARD (U.S. MAIL ONLY): With Classification Reform,the USPS implemented a Move Update requirement for all automatedFirst Class mail. In order to meet this requirement, you must pass all ad-dresses through a USPS approved address update application within sixmonths of the time of mailing. To meet the needs of the mailing industry,the USPS developed FASTForward, an MLOCR-based address system.NPI has developed an interface to work with the USPS FASTForward di-rectory. So, every time users send out a mailing, they know it will havethe most recent address information available and the POSTNET barcodefor new addresses. The new street address will also be printed on the lineimmediately above the barcode location. Users will provide faster maildelivery for their customers, eliminate the need to send mailing lists out toa third party for updates and avoid costly Address Correction Requested(ACR) charges.

COMBINED MAILING SOFTWARE: Add flexibility to your mailoperation by having the option to commingle metered mail, permit mailand pre-canceled stamps with NPI’s software. This software allows usersthe flexibility to enter different postage rates and postage payment meth-ods in one mailing. MANIFESTING/WEIGH ON THE FLY: This option allows sortingto take place with multiple weight mail pieces in one mailing.
