    Obituary - Sheila Allen

Sheila Allen teaching on the London Theatre Program in 2009.

It is with great sadness BADA shares the news that Sheila Allen passed away in October.

Sheila taught for BADA for twenty five years and was always our great friend and supporter. Staff, facultyand students alike were deeply distressed by this loss, and our thoughts still go out to Sheila's sons andgrandchildren.

Sheila acted and taught throughout her life. As an actress she appeared in a varietyof roles in the UK and the US, for, amongst others, the RSC, the Old Vic, BAMTheatre Company, Manhattan Theatre Company and Roundabout Theatre. Sheplayed many roles on television and taught extensively in Britain and the USincluding UCLA, Boston University, Oberlin College, the University of Arizona andthe Washington Shakespeare Theatre.

Shortly before her death, Sheila was interviewed for the Unfinished Histories website(co-ordinated by another of our teachers, Jessica Higgs). Although brief, it includesaudio and video footage of Sheila discussing her career and we feel it is a fittingtestament to a much loved and respected actress, teacher and friend.
