Our ambition: to be a leader in synthetic biology to improve yield and product quality by microbial control

Biocatalysis Recombinant products New selection technology developed by Syngulon (US patent 9,333,227 + 10,188,114) to control industrial microbes providing:

1. Gene containment

2. Yield increase by industrial Genetic Bio-control

3. Contamination prevention against microbial invaders

4. Genetic drift

Open / semi-open continuous production – could be multicellular Inside

• 3 year Syngulon R&D project with support of Walloon region of Belgium • Purpose: development of a genetic firewall against contaminants • Research based on metagenomic analysis of industrial samples on a worldwide basis • For ethanol production based on sugar beet (EU), sugar cane (Brazil) and starch (EU), Syngulon

is working with Tereos, 2nd largest sugar producer WW

• (1) Tereos provides samples from 7 different industrial sites over a one year period • (2) Syngulon performs metagenomics analysis • (3) Syngulon develops bacteriocin cocktails to fight contaminants • (4) Tereos/Syngulon: test of solutions in R&D lab • (5) Tereos: test of solutions approved by R&D and regulatory in industrial sites

• Type and role of partner(s) sought We would like to offer our technologies to any industrial partner using microbial fermentation that is looking at yield increase and prevention of microbial contamination.

• Previous experience in EU R&D&I projects Syngulon was member of the Proposal 745739 MasterMicro project (H2020-BBI-JTI-2016) that was favourably evaluated but not financed ( Excellence criteria 4.50, Impact 4.00, Quality and efficiency of the implementation 4.50).

Syngulon is looking for partners • For planned Horizon 2020 project • For ongoing Horizon 2020 project • For commercialization of EU-funded research results
