CALL FOR POSTER
SBCADD'2015 is a National Symposium cum Workshop which focuses on enriching the growing scientific
community consisting of budding young minds acting as a driving force in their research and also amalgamates
researchers from all over India and outside to strengthen the connections in all fields of Bioinformatics comprising of
Structural and Molecular Biology, Structural Bioinformatics, Computer Aided Drug Design and Pharmacogenomics.
Bioinformatics bridges and serve as medium connecting molecular and structural information on building
macromolecular units to accelerate translational research comprising of the development and discovery of drugs
against combating diseases threatening the survival of the mankind. This Symposium cum Workshop is being th thorganized from 24 to 27 February 2015. This four day event will feature primary lectures, poster presentation and
workshop to a number of scientists and academicians dealing with basic science and allied parallel research.
Participation at SBCADD'2015 would provide an excellent opportunity to keep up with the cutting-edge research in
such enlivening topics mentioned above and to network with other members of our community. We cordially invite
you to submit abstract and participate in symposium cum workshop.
Alagappa University was established at Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India by the great philanthropist and
educationist Padma Bhushan Dr. R.M. Alagappa Chettiar in 1985. Alagappa University is recognized by the UGC,
Government of India and is accredited with “A” grade by NAAC. The University campus is shredded with 440 acres
wide invigorating with green environment with all potential academic activities. The post graduate and research
departments in Science, Humanities and other disciplines in the Alagappa University offer more novel and
innovative programmes through regular, distance and e-learning mode. Alagappa University educates nearly 0.1
million students every year especially in the rural and backward areas of Tamil Nadu. The motto of Alagappa
University is to develop leadership in various disciplines through "EXCELLENCE IN ACTION".
Department of Bioinformatics was established in the year 2008, to facilitate the teaching and research in
the interdisciplinary areas of Structural Biology, Structural Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, Genomics and
Proteomics to create an intellectual environment for interdisciplinary education and training. The department
comprises of well experienced faculty members with diversified research interests and expertise in X-ray
Crystallography, Molecular Modeling and Computer Aided Drug Design, Marine Biotechnology and
Pharmacogenomics. The main research of the department focuses on computational and experimental techniques
to study the interaction of small molecules with proteins and nucleic acids and to characterize their molecular
mechanism towards the novel drug discovery for human diseases. Dynamic environment at department facilitates
students to gain experience in Bioinformatics related fields through academic, industrial rotations and internship
programs. The department has received research grants from various funding agencies like UGC, DBT, DST,
CSIR, ICMR, New Delhi and TNSCST, Tamil Nadu. Department of Bioinformatics is offering a two year M.Sc., one
year M.Phil., full-time Ph.D programme in Bioinformatics and one year UGC sponsored P.G. Diploma in Structural
Pharmacogenomics.
