Background Information Today, specifications designed to minimize braking distances and maximize sustained braking performance are a matter of course for braking systems, made possible by the development of new and advanced materials and innovative systems design. In addition, braking systems are integral elements of an array of control systems for longitudinal and lateral vehicle dynamics. As part of the “by wire” evolution, braking systems face increasingly stringent demands relating to reliability, dynamics, specific performance parameters and compatibility with other systems.
