The Chilliwack Visual Artists Association is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by local artist Vincent Mikuska, who has used hints and suggestions of landscape elements in this work to try and create an essence or experience of landscape. This is based on associations between different elements of visual experience... a world where line has a poetic rhythm, colour a musical tone, and space can be hinted at or defined. The paintings capture the process of visually interacting with your surroundings over time, arriving at the essence without the details.
Mikuska has shown at numerous galleries across the Lower Mainland and elsewhere in Canada. He holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of Manitoba, and a P.D.P. Certificate from Simon Fraser University.

The legend of Faust is one of high stakes. Though a highly successful scholar, he is dissatisfied, and makes a deal with the devil; exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures. The Faustian model is often used to describe an arrangement in which an ambitious person surrenders moral integrity in order to achieve power and success.
