• Spelling will not be the traditional spelling you experienced in school!

• Focus on patterns and meaning, NOT memorization.

• There will be NO spelling homework.

• There will be NO weekly spelling test.

• Word work – We are working to understand how words are formed and why they are spelled the way they are. We do this by looking at patterns, word origins, prefixes and suffixes and their meaning.

• Work with the teacher in a small group, and independently or with peers.

• Not studied for just one week but over several weeks.• Periodic assessments to evaluate

progress each trimester.
