Wesleyan prepares students seeking admission to medical school. You may major in any academic area— most students major in biology, chemistry or both. You will receive personalized guidance from a faculty advisor who will help you meet your goals in a rigorous academic setting. Pre-medicine students should inform Kentucky Wesleyan Colleges Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee of their intentions during their freshman or sophomore year. A faculty advisor and the committee will then assist you by providing guidance in determining appropriate curriculum, preparing you to take the MCAT and furnishing necessary letters of recommendation. The Pre-Professional Society is designed for science majors with career goals in medicine, veterinary, optometry, nursing or pharmacology. Monthly meetings provide opportunities to speak with physicians and alumni. We encourage our students to engage in summer research programs. Our students have participated in research activities at universities across the South and Midwest and at Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Many of our students also work as interns who perform plant-based cancer and HIV research at the Owensboro Cancer Research Program. Most chemistry and biology majors at Kentucky Wesleyan receive academic scholarships. Many also serve as assistants in science laboratories, classrooms and offices. Assistantships provide valuable learning experiences fan contributes to the students tuition. For more information about the pre-medicine program, contact Dr. W.L. Magnuson at [email protected]. Wesleyan prepares students seeking admission to medical

school. You may major in any academic area— most students

major in biology, chemistry or both. You will receive

personalized guidance from a faculty advisor who will help you

meet your goals in a rigorous academic setting.

Pre-medicine students should inform Kentucky Wesleyan

College’s Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee of their

intentions during their freshman or sophomore year. A faculty

advisor and the committee will then assist you by providing

guidance in determining appropriate curriculum, preparing you

to take the MCAT and furnishing necessary letters of recommendation.

The Pre-Professional Society is designed for science majors with career goals in

medicine, veterinary, optometry, nursing or pharmacology. Monthly meetings

provide opportunities to speak with physicians and alumni.

We encourage our students to engage in summer research programs. Our

students have participated in research activities at universities across the South

and Midwest and at Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Many of our students also

work as interns who perform plant-based cancer and HIV research at the

Owensboro Cancer Research Program.

Most chemistry and biology majors at Kentucky Wesleyan receive academic

scholarships. Many also serve as assistants in science laboratories, classrooms

and offices. Assistantships provide valuable learning experiences fan contributes

to the student’s tuition.
