The world is your playground

ALWAYS ONE EYE OPEN TO THE WORLD

The word 'International' in our programme name is written with a capital I for a reason. From the first day onwards, all lecturers will put things in a broader context. We regularly invite foreign experts to share their views with you. And we like to complement our lectures with incompany visits and a study trip abroad in the second year.

ONE TERM IN TAIWAN OR BRAZIL?

You get the opportunity to spend the whole first semester of the third year at one of our foreign partner institutions. In our efforts to guarantee you the best possible international study experience, we have put up an impressive database of 106 universities of applied sciences, institutes of technology and university colleges across the world.

YOUR INTERNSHIP IN PERU OR CHINA?

Do you dream of working abroad? Then the last semester of your International Business Management programme is the perfect time to try this out. Over the years we developed excellent relationships with dozens of companies all over the world. As a result, for your 15week graduation internship you have a large selection of countries to choose from. There you will be introduced to various functions within the organisation: the very best and fastest way to transform yourself into an independent problemsolver!

AT HOME IN GHENT

One thing is for sure: it will be hard to find an educational programme with a stronger intercultural immersion and transnational cooperation than ours. Our student population counts no less than 59 nationalities among its ranks. A highly enriching experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life!

DO YOU FANCY A DOUBLE DEGREE?

Earn an additional bachelor's degree in Global Sales and Marketing by studying one semester at University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in Steyr during your International Business Management programme.

After your graduation in Ghent you can continue your education at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver, Canada. In only one extra year, you obtain a Bachelor in Business Administration.

“ I always looked up to successful managers who showed great passion about their work. Studying International Business Management seemed the best deal for me, because I could learn Chinese and would get the opportunity to spend a whole year abroad. I wanted to obtain a general view of the different departments in an international organisation. Furthermore, I hoped for a first working experience in the USA. Thanks to the practically oriented programme I succeeded in both ambitions. I even was the very first bachelor student ever to do an internship at Flanders Investment & Trade San Francisco, in the heart of Silicon Valley.

REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCES

I definitely appreciated the consistent international focus of the various courses. You learn about doing business with people of different cultures in an international context and you really get the chance to experience it yourself. My advice to new students? Don't be afraid to be ambitious. Open yourself to new challenges. But, most of all, enjoy it!”

PRACTICE FIRST

Theory is good, but practice is better! We examine numerous business cases and organise incompany visits, practical classes and study trips. Practiceoriented sessions that focus on skills and attitudes are held in small class groups. In all your interactions — with your fellow students, lecturers and the professional field — English is your first language.

MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICES

Year after year you will be able to add a more distinctive personal touch to your programme. You decide which projects you would like to collaborate on, which master classes you want to take and where you want to get your first working experience.

KICKSTART YOUR CAREER

The final highlight will be the realisation of your bachelor project in your third year. During four months you will act as a real consultant in business affairs. Supervised by experts, you will give advice on a case study or offer management support to an international company. After that you will be more than ready to kickstart your career.

MEET YOUR STUDY COACH

All three years of your programme, your Talent and Management Development will be a key issue for us. You can always rely on the direct support of an individual study coach. During regular interviews, he or she will monitor your personal and professional growth.

EXPERIENCED STAFF

Our passionate team cannot wait to get you ready for an exciting international career. All our lecturers acquired a broad experience in everyday business life. They worked in various organizations and often they still have their own company. Apart from their expertise, they also bring real life cases to the classroom. Besides, numerous renowned guest speakers will reveal their most cherished business secrets and allow you to look behind the scenes.

DOUBLE DEGREE IN CANADA

My ambition for next year is to pursue a double degree in Business Administration from BCIT, a Canadian partner institution of Artevelde University of Applied Sciences. If I do not receive a place, I plan to stay in Belgium, since I already have a job offer from my internship company. In that case I would also start a master's degree in Ghent or Brussels.”
