Baby Shower Recipes Don’t know where to start when you’re planning a baby shower? Well one of the memorable moments of the day has to do with the FOOD! Not only does a person see how the mom-to-be is adorably glowing, but also the scrumptious spread of food for baby shower. So here are some things to keep in mind when planning on the menu: How many people will be attending? If more than 10 people are coming being in charge of the meal is a lot of work. So you can choose to have finger foods, and beverages. If several people are throwing the shower, everyone can share in the duties by splitting out portions of the menu. Is there a theme to the shower? This can turn out to be fun and not so overwhelming with a theme involved. Many baby showers consist of light, elegant, and pretty displays of food. Others are more casual like a barbeque and salads. Just decide what would work for your party and have fun planning it. Recipes Below are some of my favorite easy-to-prepare recipes to help you get started: Toad Eye Salad Acini-de-pepe (found in the pasta section of most stores) 1 c. sugar 2 beaten eggs 2 Tbsp flour 1 ¾ c pineapple juice set aside the pineapple tidbits ½ tsp. salt Cook the above ingredients until thick. Add 1 tbsp lemon juice. Cook in 3 quarts water 1 pkg of acini-de-pepe. Add 1 Tbsp cooking oil to water and 2 tsp salt. Drain acini-de-pepe. Stir into the cooked mixture and set overnight in refrigerator. Add: 3 cans mandarin oranges, drained 2 c. miniature marshmallows 3 c. pineapple tidbits, drained 1 c. coconut (optional) 1 can crushed pineapple 13 oz. Cool Whip Chicken Salad 5 c. cooked, chopped chicken Marinade: 1 Tbsp. sugar 2 Tbsp. orange juice 2 Tbsp. oil 1 tsp. salt 2 Tbsp vinegar Other ingredients: 3 c. cooked white rice 1 (11 oz.) mandarin oranges

1 ½ c seedless grapes 1 ½ c. mayonnaise 1 ½ chopped celery 1 c. slivered almonds or cashews 1 (13 oz.) pineapple tidbits Marinate chicken in marinade for 2 hours in the refrigerator. Add all other ingredients in order given. Toss with chicken and serve, chilled on a lettuce leaf or stuff in between a sliced roll. Crepes 4 eggs 1 1/3rd c. milk 3 Tbsp. melted butter 1 c. flour ½ tsp. Salt Blend eggs in blender, Beat in milk and melted butter. Add flour and salt; blend until smooth and creamy. Preheat skillet or crepe pan and brush with melted butter. Pour a small amount of batter into pan, then tilt pan until batter covers bottom of pan. When set and slightly browned, turn crepe with spatula and brown other side. Stir batter just before pouring each crepe. Filling-Strawberry and Cream 1 pt. Fresh strawberries sliced 2 Tbsp. Cornstarch 2 Tbsp. sugar Cool Whip Mix together; Drain off juice. Mix juice and cornstarch; heat and thicken. Stir constantly. Pour over strawberries. Place about 2 Tbsp. mixtures on crepe and roll up. Top with cool whip or sweetened whipped cream. Fruit Dip 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Cream cheese, softened Rind of 1 orange 1 (8 oz.) bottle marshmallow cream ¼ tsp. ginger Mix well; place inside of large hollowed out orange or grapefruit. Taco Soup 1 lb. Hamburger, browned, with grease drained 1 can kidney beans 1 onion diced (cooked with hamburger) 1 large can corn 1 qt. Diced tomatoes 1 8 oz. Can tomato soup 1 pkg. Taco seasoning mix Add all liquids from canned items. Cook 20 min. Serve hot with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, tortilla chips, fresh squeezed lime, cilantro Fruit Slush 2 (8 oz.) cans frozen orange juice 1 large can pineapple juice 1 can frozen lemonade 3 c. sugar 5 mashed bananas 6 c. water Combine sugar and water. Beat until dissolved. Add remaining ingredients. Freeze. Serve in glass with Sprite poured over it. Visit http://startadaycareservice.com for more information.
