OPERATING PRINCIPLESRETRACTION MOVEMENTPrior to firing the pistol, the barrel is locked inposition by three lugs engaged in three slots in theslide assembly. Upon firing the pistol, propellantgas pressure pushes the slide rearward. During thismovement, both barrel and slide recoil together ashort distance, then the barrel stops and disengagesfrom the slide; the slide continues its rearwardtravel. When the bullet has left the barrel, the emptycartridge case is extracted and ejected with thecontinuing movement of the slide to the rear. At thesame time, the slide pushes the hammer down intothe cocked position, where it is retained by the sear. The recoil springs are now compressed.

FORWARD MOVEMENTWhen the recoil springs expand, they drive the slideforward. During this movement the slide strips acartridge from the magazine and inserts it into thechamber. The locking lugs on the barrel once againengage the slots in the slide and lock the cartridgein the chamber.

CONTINUED FIRINGWhen the trigger is pulled, the sear releases thehammer which in turn hits the firing pin thus firingthe chambered cartridge. Firing may be continuedin this manner until the magazine is empty. Whenthe last cartridge is fired and the empty case is ejected the slide is retained in its rear position bythe slide catch. The slide catch is actuated by themagazine follower. The slide catch will release theslide when depressed by hand.

SAFETY FEATURESThe safety is located at the back of the slide, justbelow the rear sight. Pushing the safety downwardwill engage the safety. In this position the sear isheld down by the firing pin safety and the triggerbar, which is pushed downward and cannot engagethe interrupter thus neutralizing the trigger. The safetyis also a de-cocking device which pulls the firing pininside the firing pin channel before the hammer isreleased, preventing any contact between them. Dueto the unique blocking of the firing pin by the safety, the pistol will not fire when dropped accidentally onit’s hammer or muzzle.

SIGHTS AND ZEROINGStandard “Baby” Desert Eagle pistol sights consistof a front and rear sight. Both are combat style, and are designed to ensure rapid and accurateaiming. The square notch on the rear sight is3mm wide and the front sight blade is 3.3mmwide.

We recommend using a 6 O'Clock hold when shooting.

Due to individual eyesight variations, the actual mean point of impact (M.P.I.) mayvary. Zeroing can be changed on combat stylesights for windage only. To adjust the sights:1.Use a small hammer and a brass punch to

lightly tap the sight on the side. (Moving therear sight to the left will move the point ofimpact to the left).

“BABY” DESERT EAGLE PISTOL(Frame-mounted safety) MODELS F, FS & FSS

This supplement refers to the following “Baby” Desert Eagle 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP frame - mounted safety pistols.

The principle differences distinguishing the frame - mounted safety from the slide-mounted safety are:• Frame-mounted safety, left side only• In “FIRE” position, the safety lever points down

(parallel to the slide - red dot visible)• In “SAFE” position, the safety lever points up

Hammer cannot be decocked.• In “SAFE” position, the pistol can not be cocked.Apart from these differences, operation andmaintenance of the two pistol types are identical.

ATTENTIONNote that “FIRE” and “SAFE” positions on the ‘F’ models are not the same as in the slide-mounted safety. On the ‘F’ models there are nowhite dots in the “SAFE” position.

IMPORTANT NOTEMODELS F, FS & FSS FRAME-MOUNTED SAFETYThe models ‘F’ employ a frame-mountedsafety. This safety disconnects the trigger bar fromthe sear while in the safe position. There is a firingpin block. After firing, the safety may be placed in the safeposition with the hammer cocked or the hammermust be manually lowered by restraining hammerwith thumb and disengaging sear by pullingtrigger and then moving safety to safe position.
