BİLKENT UNIVERSITY Department of Computer Engineering PARALLEL COMPUTING GROUP Computer Engineering Department of Bilkent University has a long- term expertise in both theoretical and practical aspects of parallel computing. In the last decade, this group has conducted parallel computing research on three different systems, namely iPSC/2 (in 1991), Parsytec CC24 (in 1996) and a PC cluster (in 2000), acquired by the fundings from Intel Corp., European Union and TÜBİTAK, respectively. PC cluster: • 32 nodes • 128 MB RAM • Debian Linux • PVM-MPI Screen assignments for 24 processors: jagged and hypergraph partitionings. PARALLEL COMPUTING GROUPComputer Engineering Department of Bilkent University has a long-term expertise in both theoretical and practical aspects of parallel computing.

PC cluster:

• 32 nodes• 128 MB RAM• Debian Linux• PVM-MPI

Screen assignments for 24 processors:jagged and hypergraph partitionings.

Previous Projects:• Task scheduling for PC clusters (TÜBİTAK EEAG-199E013, 1999-2002)• Unstructured domain mapping (EU ITDC-204, 1995-1998)• Parallel direct volume rendering (TÜBİTAK EEAG-160, 1995-1997)• Real-time realistic image generation (TÜBİTAK EEAG-5 and Intel SSD 100791-2, 1991-1994)

Current Projects:• Parallel language engineering toolkit (Xerox XRCE, Sabancı University, EoI submission to EU FP6)• Parallel CFD for missile aerodynamics (Roketsan A.Ş.)• Parallel data mining• Parallel geographic information systems

Parsytec CC:

• 24 nodes• 64 MB RAM• IBM-AIX• EPX-PVM

Volume rendering of a combustion chamber:pressure and velocity fields.
