GEM 8 - Geometry Honors Class – Mrs. Escobar Course Description: Textbook: Florida Geometry Glencoe, McGraw-Hill, ©2011 Online: http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/casdl/textbooks/index.asp The purpose of this course is to give a rigorous in-depth study of geometry with emphasis on methods of proof and the formal language of mathematics. This course is designed to develop the students' powers of deductive reasoning. This course is a high school honors geometry class. The grade earned in this class affects the student’s grade point average in both middle and high school. Students will also take the State Geometry End-of-Course Exam – a student must pass the EOC in order to earn high school credit for the course. The purpose of this course is to give a rigorous in-depth study of geometry with emphasis on methods of proof and the formal language of mathematics.
