Dear Birthparents,

Thank you for considering us as loving parents for your child. Our names are Jacob & Leslie. We cannot imagine the feelings you have or will experience in your decision to plan an adoption for your child. We admire your courage and strength, and hope this letter and these photographs give an accurate image of who we are and the kind of parents we will be to your child.

Our BeginningWe were both fortunate enough to be raised by loving and supportive parents and always had a lot of family and friends to care, guide and encourage us growing up. Jacob is 34 years old and was born and raised in Georgia. He is truly a southern gentleman and I love that about him! I, Leslie, am 33 years old and was born and raised in Minnesota. Although we lived in far different climates growing up, our paths crossed right out of college after I moved to Georgia to start my first job and enjoy some warmer weather. Jacob and I worked at the same company, and one day I noticed the “cute boy” in the back of the office. We talked for a bit and realized we both had many things in common , one being a love for dogs!

Two years later Jacob proposed! He had an elaborate plan that included our families meeting for the first time at a nice restaurant. This was the only event I was anticipating that night, but was more than surprised when the desert came and written in chocolate around the outside of the plate said, “Will you marry me?” It was truly the most touching moment of my life up to that point! We were married in Minnesota in September of 2001 and it was a beautiful fall day. All of our family and friends were there to share in our special day with us.

We both say it was truly the best day of our lives so far. After our wedding we flew to Jamaica, for a honeymoon in Negril. We had a great time basking in the sun and enjoying some much needed R&R. We talked about the family we would one day have together and dreamed about what our future had in store for us.

Our Life TogetherWe just celebrated our 8th anniversary and are looking forward to many more to come. Jacob and I are truly best friends and are able to count on each other no matter what. Our communication, trust, love, friendship, and dedication to each other is what has made our marriage successful. Our faith in the Lord has also helped us through the challenges every couple faces.We enjoy being together and are grateful for the experiences we have had. Taking vacations is one of our favorite things to do and we take them quite often. Many of our trips are to Minnesota to see family or to our 2nd home in Colorado, a condo in the mountains, but we also get to take other getaways too. We can’t wait to take our child to Colorado and see their reaction to the breathtaking Rocky Mountains and all of the snow!

The best thing about our relationship is that it doesn’t matter where we are or what we are doing, as long as we are together. Hanging out with our dogs Bear & Sadie, cooking dinner together, being out on the lake near our home, doing yard work, going grocery shopping, or just cuddling together on the coach watching tv, we are happiest together.

Why We Are Choosing AdoptionWe have taken the first several years of our marriage to build our relationship and enjoy one another. We always knew we wanted children and have tried to get pregnant since 2006. Although infertility was hard news to deal with, Jacob and I now believe adoption is our plan and we are excited about it! We look forward to bringing our new baby home very soon!

Our HomeWe recently built a new house in a very family/child oriented neighborhood north of Atlanta. We have 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and a basement perfect for a toy room! Our kitchen and family room are both large and open and where we spend most of our time together. Both Jacob and I enjoy cooking and we hope our new little one will enjoy making cookies with me and grilling out with Jacob too. Our backyard is fully fenced and is huge! We love spending time back there with friends, family, and our dogs running around and playing ball. A swing set is already in the plans. Our home is a place where we hope others feel welcome, and we can’t wait to hear the little pitter patter of our child’s feet running on the hardwood floors, or hear them speak their first words. We look forward to birthday parties, Christmas mornings, Easter egg hunts, and family gatherings. We are so ready to be “Dad” and “Mom”!

Our neighborhood is a large subdivision with several parks, a soccer field, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a nature trail. We have a huge water park like swimming pool that has a 100-foot water slide and lots of fun waterspouts and buckets for the kids. During the summer it is the place to be for families and children of all ages!

We are in a very safe and secure neighborhood and city where schools are very good and crime is very low. We know many of our neighbors and it is the type of community where if you need a cup of sugar, you just go next door and ask. We love it here and can’t wait to raise our children in our home and neighborhood.

Our 2nd Home A Warm and Cozy Vacation Home in the Mountains of Colorado In 2005 Jacob and I bought a vacation home in the Colorado mountains. We both love to vacation and love to ski, so we come here a few times during the year with our families and friends. We just got back from a week long trip and we had a great time! Our 2nd home has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and is a very cozy home. We look forward to teaching our child how to ski with us or snowboard if they so choose.

Our FamiliesFamily is very important to both of us and we spend a lot of time with our families. Jacob’s parents live very close to us. His Dad owns his own construction company and his mother recently retired from a long career in real estate. Jacob has 3 siblings who all live within an hour from us. One of his sisters is married, a stay at home mom to 5 children who are 19, 12, 8, 3 and 1. His other sister is a nurse and has a son who is 13 years old. His younger brother is not yet married and works with his Dad in

construction. Leslie’s parent’s live up North but visit quite often. Leslie’s Dad works at the Historical Society in Michigan. He loves history and has done extensive research on our heritage. Her Mom works at the University of Minnesota doing research in one of the medical labs. Leslie is the baby of the family and has 3 older siblings. Her oldest brother lives in

Minnesota and is a contractor. He has two daughters and two grandsons. Leslie’s oldest sister lives in Oregon and works in the tech industry. Her other sister lives in Minnesota and works in software sales. No doubt this baby will have lots and lots of love and attention from grandpas, grandmas, aunts, uncles and cousins!

My husband Jacob (written by Leslie)Jacob is truly my best friend and the love of my life. He is someone I can count on when times are tough and celebrate with when good news comes our way. What I love most about Jacob is his sense of humor. He was born to be a dad! Kids of all ages just adore him. He knows how to make people feel special and give them the individual time they deserve.

Jacob is very friendly, kind, energetic and quite the comedian. He has a passion for life and lives his life to the fullest each day. He is a very happy person with a very positive outlook. He enjoys playing golf, hiking with our dogs, watching football, grilling with friends, playing cards, and running. Jacob is a team player in our marriage and always helps out around the house. He doesn’t believe the housework is the woman’s job and jumps right in to clean our toilets! :)

Jacob As Our ProviderJacob is a hard worker and a very dedicated employee. He takes providing for his family very seriously and is ready to provide for our new little one as well. He enjoys his career of 8 years and has been very successful continuing to grow his business as an independent furniture/home accessory rep.

Jacob as a New DaddyJacob absolutely adores children! There truly has not been a baby, toddler or child around that doesn’t light up when Jacob is in the room. He just has a way about him with kids. He is truly a favorite playmate of many of our friend’s kids and our nieces and nephews. Our new baby boy or baby girl will have their Daddy wrapped around their little finger from the moment they arrive, no doubt! Jacob is excited to feed our baby, read to our baby, and even change our baby’s diapers at 3 o’clock in the morning! He truly is an amazing man and I know he will be a great Dad too.

My Wife Leslie (written by Jacob)Leslie is the most beautiful woman in the world in my eyes, both inside and out. Her love for people, for dogs and animals, for family, and her love for me is what makes me love her even more. What initially attracted me to Leslie was her genuine character and now after 8 years of marriage, I still am taken away by her sincerity and charm. Leslie is a very sweet, caring, friendly, and big hearted person. She is described by many as a “best friend” because she would do anything for her friends.

Leslie’s Hobbies & InterestsLeslie loves to snow ski and used to competitively ski race in high school. When not

on the slopes, she enjoys shopping, cooking, hiking with our dogs, hanging out with friends, boating on the lake, going to movies, reading, and

vacations. Three years ago she did the 3 day-60 mile walk for Breast Cancer Awareness and said it was a life changing experience for her. Leslie is a strong woman with a loving heart! One Sunday a month she teaches Sunday School at our church and works with toddlers. She always has cute stories to tell me about the kids. I can’t wait to see my wife as a mother, she will be wonderful!

Leslie as a New Mommy We have had a wonderful marriage so far, and we both know adding a child will only make our lives that much better. Leslie is so ready to be a Mom she can hardly stand it! So many of our friends have either had children or adopted babies and we have gotten to enjoy them over the last couple of years. Leslie is for sure a favorite to many of our friend’s kids and no doubt the favorite Aunt to our nieces and nephews because of her consistent love and attention to them. Leslie has dreamed of the day we have our own baby, the day she gets to rock our baby, feed our baby, and have our baby’s 1st birthday party.

Writing this now just brings tears to my eyes thinking about our future with a child in our lives! We are both so incredibly anxious and excited for this journey.

In ClosingAlthough we don’t know you, we hope this letter has told you a little more about us. We have truly been blessed in so many ways and we hope we will soon be blessed with a child to love and cherish as our own. We are both far from perfect, but if you choose us for your child, we promise to always strive to provide a loving, stable home with lots of family and friends to surround and love him or her. We are excited for our new baby’s arrival and have already started buying clothes, toys, books, stuffed animals, baby items and getting the room ready.
