Step 3
After prying open all of the anchoringpoints, the cover will lift off of thetablet.
To replace the cover, simply snap itback in place and re-insert the twoscrews. Because the speaker is notfully fixed to the interior of the tablet, make sure that it is in the positionthat will allow it to fit inside thespeaker mounting on the cover.
Step 4 — Microphone
If you have never soldered before, there are guides on the internet andeven on iFixit that make it easy tolearn. We suggest becoming familiarwith soldering before proceeding.
Now we are ready to begin thesoldering process. You'll need asoldering iron, solder, anddesoldering wick.
Clean the soldering iron by melting asmall amount of solder onto thesoldering iron's tip. Then wiping thetip of the soldering iron on a dampsponge.

If you are new to soldering, it isrecommended that you check outiFixit's guide to soldering anddesoldering.
Place the desoldering wick on top ofthe existing solder ball.
Hold the soldering iron in place untilthe solder melts into the wick.
Repeat the same procedure on theremaining connector.
Pull the desoldered wires off of thecircuit board. They should come offwith little to no resistance. If they donot come off easily, remove moresolder from the contact points withthe wick.
Step 6
Grip the wires and slowly pull themicrophone out of its mounting point. Some force may be needed.
