What IS the AZ State Fair Distribution?

• It is a YOUTH DISTRIBUTION

• We will be handing out ORANGE TESTAMENTS

20,000 have been ordered

• We can also give out other Gideon information

• An opportunity to work with the Auxiliary and Widows who are encouraged to participate

What the AZ State Fair Distribution IS NOT!

• It does not replace Mid and High School Distributions

• It is not a mass distribution of PWTs

• We will not be accepting any donations at the Fair. Share the Friends of Gideon’s

brochure.

• Do not get creative. Use the Gideon, not a personal agenda please.

• THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO DO STREET WITNESSING - YOU ARE REPRESENTING THE GIDEONS

INTERNATIONAL! We are required to stay within 2 feet of the booth at all times.

• WE WANT TO COME BACK NEXT YEAR

What the RULES ARE! • THIS IS A YOUTH DISTRIBUTION

• We must stay at the booth to give out New Testaments

• We need at least two people at the booth at all times

• NO LESS THAN two Gideon should be at the booth at all times (restroom, eating etc.)

• Do not make up rules – it is 5th to 12th or those above identifying as a student. If any

question just ask what grade they are.

• You may share with adults too, briefly. Additional information on who we can distribute

to will be included in the schedule sheet.

• Dress Code: Gideon pin. Business Casual or Corporate Wear (Guidebook, pages 139-142)

I.E. no Levis. Shorts, or cargo pants please. Dress pants of some kind. No hats with

emblems other than Gideon. Polish able shoes. Because of sun a wide brim hat without a

logo is appropriate, should remove for photo ops.

• There are restrooms nearby where you can change from or into something more casual for

walking the fairgrounds.

• Scriptures are to be offered and distributed to youth who are 5th grade through 12th

grade only. (Form 115-15) Please do not proactively offer them to any adults. If an adult

asks for one please offer a Gideon App card instead or with a word of witness attempt to

offer a Personal Witness Testament instead. We have them under the table. Do not

however argue or attempt to take a youth witness back from an adult who picks it up.

• Spanish pocket testaments (Item #7760D) may be given to youth who are 5th grade

through 12th grade if they are not bilingual and require a Spanish testament (Kendra Hicks,

TGI Member Services)

• NO doctrinal or Bible version discussions or political conversations between members

and/or fair attenders.

• Take no monetary donations. Refer them to the webpage for donations.

• Use Personal Witnessing Testaments with adults as a one-on-one witnessing experience.

PWTs are never to be mass distributed.

• Sign in when arriving and out when leaving the Fair.

• Pray before starting with the other servants that God will give opportunity to bring across

our paths those youth (5th graders - 12th graders) and those adults we can give the Gideon

Bible App or a PWT with personal witness. Pray during the distribution and pray at the

end, giving all glory to God.

• If a person has not read the manual after prayer each person needs to read and if there are

questions they need to be answered.

• Keep the area/booth clean, no litter and organized.

• Keep the table organized neat/pleasing to the eye and marketable always striving to keep

the table full of Scriptures.

• Keep in mind we are professional business men and women. Do not oversell the Bible

App. It has 1181 languages and dialects but not all have text and voice. The Navaho for

example only has New Testament audio, no text.

How do you participate?

• Each day of the fair has a Fair Coordinator as your contact person. Check the signup sheet

for their name and number. If you are unsure contact Vic Pomel, 928-277-6511 or David

• Signup sheets are being emailed out by David Ames Scripture RPL.

• All Gideon and Auxiliary members from NM and AZ are welcome to participate. You can

contact Anthony Amodeo 602-446-0291 amthonyamodeo01@yahoo.com for housing

possibilities.

• A daily Fair Coordinator is being listed on the signup sheets. You can contact the Fair

Coordinator at any time if you have questions or issues.

How do you participate?

• Participation is by signing up

• The Fair Coordinator for that day will be the main communication resource for that day

• We have a limited supply of PWT’s but we have other materials including Bible App cards.

Please bring PWT’s if you have any to use.

• If the Fair Coordinator needs help, he will contact you. Please sign the sheet as a “Hot

Call” person on days you would also come in if called.

How do you get into the Fair?

• You enter the fair with paid admission. The Fair does not give free passes to the vendors.

We will have possible discount ticket information and other information at:

• Parking is pay or free with shuttle parking. Check

https://arizonaexposition.com/directions-parking Call the fair for free park and ride

locations. We encourage you to carpool! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday free parking and

shuttle from state capital.

How do you get into the Fair?

• Please show up 15 minutes prior to your shift.

• Closest entrance is at the North East corner of McDowell and 19th Ave.

• Business casual, no shorts please. Gideon logo shirts if you have them. Polish able shoes.

This booth is outside on the Midway so consider the Gideon hat if you have one or a hat

with no logo please. Sun screen should be considered.

How do you sign up?

• The Fair is 18 days during the month. If we have at least three people at the booth, and we

have three shifts per day, we will have 162 time slots to fill which means, we need as much

help as possible.

• Decide what day, or days, that you would like to work

• The Fair hours are Noon to 9 pm Wednesday and Thursday.

• Noon to 10pm Friday, 10am to 10pm Saturday, and 10 am to 9pm Sunday.

• They are closed Monday and Tuesday

• Consider whatever time you can give. Even If you can work only one shift it will help.

• Respond to the shift sheets that are being emailed out or contact your camp president.

You can also call David Ames 559-474-0349 and tell him what time you can work and he

will add you to the schedule. Work the details out of your schedule and please contact us.

Be sure to leave a good telephone number where you can be reached.

• You can also go to http://daviddudleyames.com/gideons.html and register to help at the

fair.

What will be at the booth? • We would like the booth fully staffed so we can do a proper job. Please do not bring

anything to give out at the Fair that has not been approved

• We will have all of the New Testaments, and Gideon Information ready for you to distribute.

Please bring PWT’s if you have some as these are not a resource we ordered.

• Always be friendly and loving

• If someone refuses, do not take it personally. This is His work. Your first desire is to give out

the Orange New Testaments to 5th through 12th graders. They will be ESV and some KJV. You

do not have to talk with the students, but you can if you wish

• We want more than two people at the booth so that at least one person is always giving out

the Orange New Testaments to students and the third can be stocking the table.

• You can give out Bible App Cards to adults

• You can share the Gospel with both students and adults

• Do not engage in controversial issues, political issues, or doctrinal issues

• Do not interact with the media. Contact the Fair Coordinator instead

• We will have three chairs behind the table for workers to rest

• It is recommended that, if possible, you stand at the front of the booth, within about 2 feet to

give out New Testaments

• DO NOT go more than two feet beyond our booth boundary

• It is LOUD – you can be loud too!!! – FREE NEW TESTAMENT/BIBLE

• If someone asks why we are there, we are there to give out Free New Testaments to the

Students who attend the fair. We paid for a booth like everyone else

• If someone asks who we are, share information about us, but do not be distracted from our

main purpose – Students

• If someone desires more information about of the Gideon’s you can give them an information

brochure, Friends brochure, or Membership brochure

• The table will not have “Free Stuff” to take

• We want to control what we give out

• At the booth will be banners

• On the table will be New Testaments, information brochures, friends brochures, membership brochures, business cards, mail-in donation envelopes, and the sign-up sheets
