To enroll at the Aalto University you have to pay the
Student Union (AYY) membership fee. The obligatory
fee includes the health care fee of the Finnish Stu‐
dents Health Service FSHS (YTHS) for undergraduate
students. Note that the FSHS fee is not an insurance
policy neither does it cover hospitalization costs. The
other payments listed below are voluntary.
Membership fee has to be paid according to the in‐
structions given by the University.
Please use the enclosed reference number and keep
this form and the stamped receipt of your payment.
You will need them in the future. If you use the online
payment service, you should print out the receipt
which includes the filing code of the payment.
A student who is registered as present in two universi‐
ties can apply for the refund of the FSHS share of the
student union membership fee. The refund is applied
for from that student union where you paid the latter
fee. The refund is applied for in writing from AYY by
the end of September. You can get the refund after
the registration period of the University ends.

organisation of Aalto University. Every Bachelor's and
Master's degree student enrolled in Aalto University is
a member of the Student Union.
The purpose of AYY is to represent the students, look
after their interests, and support the community of
15,000 students. AYY provides its members with a va‐
riety of services such as healthcare and housing. The
Student Union is financed by membership fees, invest‐
ments and profits from student housing.
