• Four  members  of  the  Nebraska  Section  Board  were  able  to  attend  the  District  16  annual  meeting  in  Ankeny  Iowa.  o Chris  Beaty  Chairman  o Rick  Hanny  Vice  Chairman

• Miami  Updates:  o 2013  Results  

§ Revenues  $33.5M  up  9.6%  § Fabtech  attendance  40,000  § Seminar  revenues  up  10.1%  § Membership  69,607  up  1.7%  § Student  9,983  up  5.0%  § Corporate  2,240  up  7.5%  § Society  has  matched  $1.8M  in  named  scholarships  within  the  Foundation  

o 2014  Update  § Boy  Scout  Welding  Merit  Badge  15,000.    The  Welding  Merit  Badge  ranks  43rd  of  132  Merit  Badges.  

o Certification  § Effective  January  1,  2014  Certification  switched  to  a  new  photo  identification  wallet  cards.    All  

candidates  applying  for  certification  or  renewal  must  provide  one  passport-­‐style  2  X  2  color  photo.  All  photos  must  meet  AWS  Certification  Photo  Requirements,  found  online  at  http://www.aws.org/w/a/certification/photoidres.html.    

§ AWS  agreement  with  ASNT  offers  ACCP  Level  II  VT  certification  without  examination  to  qualified  SCWIs  &  CWIs.  To  apply  and  for  more  details  visit  www.asnt.org    

§ Free  online  Certification  Verification  Service.    Search  and  confirm  the  certification  status  for:  • Certified  Welding  Inspectors  • Certified  Welders  

§ 9  year  Recertification  –  www.aws.org/certification/9year/    o District  Director  

§ Elections  were  held  for  District  Director  for  term  January  1,  2016  to  January  1  2018  § Dennis  Wright  had  to  resign  as  District  Director  due  to  health  reasons  § Karl  Fogleman  was  elected  District  Director  including  finishing  out  Dennis’  current  term  § Greg  Siepert  was  elected  Deputy  District  Director
