This past November several of our AWMI Cleveland Board members attended the 2015 AWMI Annual Conference in Tucson, AZ. We came back with not only a tan but also with the honor of having been awarded the Chapter of the Year! We want to thank all of our new members that joined us in 2015 as well as our faithful members that continue to support not only our events but our board members as employers, co-workers & as our life long friends. Each year the Chapter of the Year title & trophy is awarded to the Chapter that increases itsmembership by the highest percentage. Due to amazing local supporters not only here in Northern Ohio, & western Pennsyl- vania, but also those who travel from Columbus, Chicago & even North Carolina; we were able to exceed our goal by 161% & doubled our mem- bership, now exceeding over 110 incredible members!! HOW WAS THIS POSSIBLE? Many factors aided in increasing membership! 1. Our membership has become more diverse. We have transitioned beyond events involving only carbon flat-roll service centers & integrated alloy, white metal producers & distributors, value -add vendors, various sized mills, scrappers & event students! 2. Our Cleveland Board members are also very diverse; working from many different facets of the metals business. Fresh ideas! 3. We are exploring new topics for events as well as area venues. We will continue to include new locations, speakers & educational tours from mills, service centers, and processors of aluminum, titanium and stainless products. 4. We are giving back to our members through scholarship opportunities & encourage collegiate level involvement. 5. We are listening to our members! Thank you to those who have completed our surveys during 2015! We appreciate your feedback & accept the challenge to take our Chapter to the next level by continuing to plan events around our members interests & suggestions! February 2016 We are the Chapter of the Year!! ...and we have the trophy to prove it! The Cleveland Board had faced challenges starting 2015 with a very small Board; this was due to some turnover of board positions and vacancies within a short period of time. However we were able to turn negatives into positives & those remaining stepped up! All hands on deck! These circumstance made our Board even stronger and more cohesive as a unit. We are also proud to report that we have doubled the size of our Cleveland Chapter Board adding some amazing new ladies to the roster! We are proud of the successful year in 2015; but we know that we will have new challenges in 2016 due to the state of the current metals markets. We are working to again maintain our current membership base while also continuing to reach out to potential new members. We will continue to evolve with a revived membership base which was the key to chapter growth in 2015; and how we will continue to maintain our stability in 2016. Please do not forget to renew your membership for 2016! We encourage you to invite a co- worker to one of our events! If you have questions on renewal or addition- al comments, contact our Membership Chairperson, Charlene Cybator at [email protected]. The Next BIG Event! March 2, 2016 Educational Event at the Auto Show! Join us for dinner at the IX Center & enjoy the Cleveland Auto Show **featuring 2 guests speakers, see pg 3!
