Objective : To make “GLOBAL LEADERS” in citizens.JCI Sapporo defines “GLOBAL LEADER” as a person that has 3 facultiesbelow.- taking a worldwide view of things with common sense- providing new added value based on needs and seeds- promoting movement for innovation with citizens through finding localproblems

Overview : 1. Nowadays local superiority of Sapporo is decreasing in competitionwith all over the world.To develop the community in the future , JCI Sapporo decided to make“GLOBAL LEADERS” in Sapporo citizens.So we think “GLOBAL LEADER” is a following person.- A person that can create new added value that is differentiated and isbased on local specialty.- A person that can provide products or services needed by everybody inthe world.- A person that can revitalize his local community.2. To make “GLOBAL LEADERS” JCI Sapporo cooperated withcompanies and associations, and we organized following programs inthat citizens join.3. A LECTURE MEETINGJCI Sapporo called in the 14th Dalai Lama that received the Nobel PeacePrize and had him talk to audience about peace in the world mixed withhis various experience and career.By the lecture of this actual “GLOBAL LEADER”, citizens came to noticethat local problems should be solved by leaders in our own localcommunity.Sapporo citizens analyze region distinguishing deeply and hand themethod to reform leaying town. Besides US$70 fee a participant wascollected.4. TOWN HALL MEETINGSJCI Sapporo held town hall meetings to prompt citizens to raise theirability and faculty in order to develop their community.One of these, JCI Sapporo had citizens experience an improve method ofTOYOTA that is called “KAIZEN”. TOYOTA is one of very famouscompanies in Japan, and through this method citizens noticed thenecessity of detecting actual cause of problems and learned how to findthe cause.Besides US$30 fee a participant was collected.5. IMPROVEMENTBy these meetings, citizens in Sapporo came to have knowhow to makebest result and have common consciousness.

Results : 1.Citizens in Sapporo have changed positively to have motivation tobecome “GLOBAL LEADER”.According to questionnaire, over 57% participants said that they shouldaim to be the “GLOBAL LEADER”.2.JCI Sapporo could make leaders locally that can develop theircommunity with many citizens. Because, according to questionnaire, 66%participants said that they should create changes not only for themselvesbut also for many people around.3.JCI Sapporo could make many leaders locally that can develop theircommunity with a worldwide view of things. Recommendations : Objective achieved1. Through these programs JCI Sapporo could make citizens take aworldwide view of things with common sense that can create new addedvalue. Because, according to questionnaire, 57% participants said that itis necessary to be such citizen.2. JCI Sapporo could make citizens find local problems and promoteinnovation with many people around. Because, according toquestionnaire, 66% participants said that they should change their mindand act something to make their community better.Objective not achievedJCI Sapporo could not have citizens announce the importance of“GLOBAL LEADER” to many more people.According to questionnaire, only 17% participants said that they shouldmake other people “GLOBAL LEADERS”.

For the lecture meeting of the 14th Dalai LamaTo take opportunity to listen to the 14th Dalai Lama tomany people, JCI Sapporo used a big hall with US$70fee a participant from information that otherassociations or JCI at the other region in that the 14thDalai Lama is called.JCI Sapporo referred that between US$70 and US$100a participant had collected at programs of otherassociations or JCI LOM in that Dalai Lama was called.For town hall meetingsTo take opportunity to make participants communicatewith each other while eating and drinking, JCI Sapporocollect US$30 fee a participant.

of this project?

Creating more opportunities to share our vision aboutlocal problems with many citizens in order to makepeople leaders that can develop their community.Though ability of foreign language is necessary to be“GLOBAL” leader, making “GLOBAL LEADER” isstarted with increasing number of young active citizensthat can take action for local community.
