ST. STANISLAUS COLLEGE
As Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people together, let us have a sense of the importance of the country upon which we are standing, where learning and ceremony has taken place over many thousands of years.
Let us sense the land beneath our feet and acknowledge to whom it belongs – The Traditional Custodians – and pay our respects to their elders and all elders, past, present and future.
For we are one in land, one in spirit, one in faith, united in God’s love.
In 1958, a branch school to the established St. Joseph’s Christian Brothers’ College was opened to cater for a growing post war population. True to the Founder Blessed Edmund Rice, the aim of the Christian Brothers and the fi rst Principal Br. Cumming was to foster the faith in boys while assessing the value of the whole young man including the importance of study. The College had a very limited budget in the fi rst year and relied on the pupils, their families and community support through the voluntary works committee to complete work at the College.
St. Stanislaus provided education from year 5 – 7 on the Main Street campus and years 8 – 10 on the Yaamba Road campus.
The amalgamation of Marian and St. Stanislaus in 1985 provided an opportunity for shared facilities and resources. The goal of Principal Br. Cumming was to continue the apostolic, hard-working, caring spirit that the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Christian Brothers had brought to all their schools in the last 100 years.
Following in the Christian Brothers footsteps the Josephite Sisters were not far behind in establishing secondary education for girls on the Northside of Rockhampton, in 1961 St Mary’s school extended education to Year 9 and then year 10 in 1962. Due to increasing attendance Marian Secondary School for Girls was established on the same site as St. Stanislaus on Yaamba Road with an enrolment of 93 students.
The College foundations are based on the dedication to St. Mary of the Cross Mackillop which allowed continued allegiance to the patron and acknowledged the educational and spiritual dedication of the Sisters of St Joseph.
St. Stanislaus and Marian Secondary School for Girls were formally amalgamated in 1985.
2017 AcAdemic AwArds
Emmaus College continues to respect and recognise the founders of our College St. Mary of the Cross Mackillop and Blessed Edmund Rice and their belief in offering quality Catholic education to students.

Jesuit exAmen
Loving God, bless our students in the studies they undertake at Emmaus College.
May they learn here the value of work, a sense of their own achievement and the dignity they possess as Your children.
We pray that all of us, as we walk the Emmaus Road together, will grow to appreciate the many gifts of our lives and all that we can learn in the company of others.
Amen.
Take a deep breath… Being aware of God’s presence in the last 24 hours… What was the best thing I heard? What was the best thing I saw? What was the best thing someone did for me? What was the best thing I did for someone else? What can I do to improve this day? Thank you God
