President’s Message
Aloha mai Kakou!
Your Club leadership has been very busy. The Pearl Harbor
Hawaiian Civic Club truly leads the Club's in leadership positions.
We started off the year with the Oahu Council Meeting on the 10th
of January with four of our members in leadership and committee
chairmanship positions. January 16-18th the Association
of Hawaiian Civic Club's Board had a Retreat at St Stephen's
Seminary and our Club has five members in leadership and
committee chairmanships on that level as well. We had two Ali‘i
Sundays, our Board of Director's Meeting, our Installation
Luncheon and attended the Lunalilo Home sold out Luau. Four of
the five Saturdays we were engaged in attending Hawaiian Civic
Club events. I want to thank all of you who attended these events.
I want to thank Lorna Pacheco and Cheryl Kapua in co-chairing
the Silent Auction for our Installation Luncheon; a job well
done. Be sure to read Lorna's article in this newsletter. I want to
thank Michael Kapua and our floral committee; Charles Kapua,
Carol Rosa, Carol Lee, and the Hanabusa Ohana for the beautiful
flowers and fauna. I also want to thank Maydeen Maika
and Charles Kapua for taking care of the reception table.

This month we attended Aunty Jessie Cavaco's funeral and
seven of us were able to bid a fond Aloha to another outstanding
Kupuna who has left a big footprint in our Club.
We will be participating in the Great Aloha Run on the 16th of
February and I hope many of you will be able to make that event.
Remember we will be manning the second water station at the
corner of Nimitz and Pu‘uloa Road. Wear your club t-shirts.
Our General Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 26,
2015 at Halawa Gym and I look forward to seeing all of you there.
We will be having a speaker on the Hawai‘i Health Connector.
Come and find out how you can possibly get a better health plan or
get a plan if you don't already have one. I look forward to seeing
you all soon.
Aloha,
Toni Lee
President

Mahalo to all who donated and purchased items at our installation
banquet. As a result, we were able to make $750. Another $100
came from flowers and ‘gently used’ items. All of the other
donated items were sold at a garage sale adding another $100, for a
grand total of $950.00.
After banquet expenses are deducted, the rest of the monies will go
into our scholarship fund. Big mahalo again to all who
participated with time, talent, treasure and most of all a generous
