• Schools throughout the USA and many parts of the world do not offer programs that prepare students for avionics work on Next Generation airplanes.

• In the USA, much of the problem stems from the fact that the FAA does not approve Avionics Technician programs or offer Avionics Technician certifications of any kind. FAA Aircraft Maintenance Technician licensing programs (Airframe and Powerplant) follow curricula that have been largely unchanged for 40 years.
