1.0 Setup Diagram

Figure 1-1 is a setup diagram for a single EVC100 Conference System configuration. The

EVC100 is setup as a SIP telephony device.

4.0 Setup Procedure

To set up the Elastix Server for the AVer EVC100

1. Go to the web address of the Elastix Server Login page. The web address is

determined by the customer, for this guide we have used the IP address

192.168.1.75

2. On the Login page, type the username and password for an administrative user into

the Username and Password fields, see Figure 4-1. The username and password are

determined by the customer.

3. Press Enter or click on the Submit button to go to Elastix‟s Dashboard

4. Once inside, click on the PBX tab on the menu at the top of the screen

5. Click on the Submit button to add an extension, see Figure 4-3. This will take you

to the Add SIP Extension page, see Figure 4-3.

6. On the Add SIP Extension page (Figure 4-4), fill in the following information:

• User Extension (301 in this example)

• Display Name („AverEVC100‟ in this example)

• secret („h7Dka3Rf9si0t‟ in this example)

7. Click on “Submit” button at the end of the page, and you will see a similar page on

Figure 4-5 displaying the “Apply Configuration Changes Here” pink ribbon on top

of the screen. Click on there to apply changes.

8. Now modify the extension by clicking on the name located at the right side, and set

the following parameters (Figure 4-6):

Device options

disallow: all

allow: ulaw&h264

ulaw is the audio codec, and h264 is the video codec.

9. Click on “Submit” and apply changes. With this you have just finished creating a

SIP extension that will be used by the AVer EVC100 to register with the Elastix

Server. Repeat Steps 5 through 9 to similarly create another extension (different

values on Step 6) to be used by the Video IP (SIP) Phone to register as well

(extension 302 in this example). Once you finished you will see something similar

to Figure 4-7.

10. Now go to “PBX => Tools => Asterisk File Editor”, search for a file called

“sip_general_custom.conf” by clicking on “Show filter” button (Figure 4-8):

11. Edit the file by adding the following information (Figure 4-9):

videosupport=yes

maxcallbitrate=384

allow=h261

allow=h263

allow=h263p

allow=h264

12. When finish, click on “Save” and “Reload Asterisk” button.

13. With this you have finished configuring Elastix Server. Now need to enter the

information from the extension created on the Elastix Server into the AVer EVC100

14. Log in to the Aver EVC100 WebUI by pointing your browser to the EVC100‟s IP

address.

For the initial configuration, refer to the EVC100 User Manual found at:

http://www.averusa.com/communication/downloads.asp

Factory default settings

IP Address 192.168.0.1

Web Access Password 1234

Set the IP Address in the same network as your Elastix Server.

15. When prompted, enter the Web Access Password to access to the WebUI (Figure 4-

10).

16. Go to the section “Network => SIP” and check the option Enable SIP. (Figure 4-

11)

17. Now, use the information from the Add SIP Extension page (Figure 4-4) to enter the

following necessary information on the section “Network => SIP Server” (Figure 4-

12):

Terminal Name: 301 in this example

Terminal Password: h7Dka3Rf9si0t in this example

Registrar Server: Elastix Server’s IP Address (192.168.1.75 in this example)

Proxy Server: Elastix Server’s IP Address (192.168.1.75 in this example)

Use Registrar: Checked

After checking the option Use Registrar, the EVC100 will try to register to Elastix.

(Figure 4.13).

18. If the EVC100 is not registered make sure you have entered the correct information.

Now configure the other IP (SIP) Video Phone with the correct parameters.

19. To test the Aver EVC100, go to the option Dial from the home section (see Figure

4-14).

20. To dial an extension select SIP in the Call Type, 302 in the IP Address and press the

button Call. (Figure 4-15)

21. Now see the figure 4-16 which shows when the EVC100 is receiving a call.

Make sure you are able to see the video camera from both terminals and have a

successful video conference. The option Presentation of the EVC100 is not

supported by Elastix.

Note: All the configuration steps for the EVC100 can also be made by using the remote

control and a monitor connected to the video outputs of the EVC100‟s main system.
