Yorkshire Made Me: Jennifer Robertson and Lynne FletcherUntil Saturday 31 October
Three years in the making, this unique collection of photographs celebrates the inspirational Yorkshire men and women who are exceptional in their chosen field. From leading entertainers to eminent writers, politicians, academics, journalists and Olympic gold-medal heroes, the informal portraits capture the personalities of the sitters who are proud to be Yorkshire ‘born and bred¹. Their settings celebrate the beauty of the county, from the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, to ancient cobbled streets steeped in history and charm.
In building this important collection Robertson and Fletcher came to realise that no matter how far Yorkshire people might go, in distance or stardom, they seem to be forever shaped by their place of birth and are intensely proud to belong.

These illustrations chart the Iron Lady’s time as a member of the shadow cabinet, her leadership of the Conservative Party, her tenure as Prime Minister, and, ultimately, her political decline. The cartoons are vivid reminders of the miners’ strike, the Falklands War and the close relations Margaret Thatcher struck up with the USA.
