Inshas Indonesia Visit
During the October half term Insha had the opportunity to visit anIslamic boarding school called Darrunnajah. Insha said of her 13 day
visit that it had been an eye opening experience from the cuisine, culture and the people.
She had the opportunity to interact with notable Indonesian leaderssuch as the ministry of religious affairs, a noble peace prize awardwinner and a member of the British council. Her trip consisted ofnumerous visits to places such as the Borobudur Temple, the Merapi
Volcano and the Botanical Gardens.
Insha was able to shadow students in their lessons and said of her visit;
The dedication and commitment conveyed by the students wasadmirable, whether they were studying in lessons, taking part in extra-
curricular activities or keeping the school grounds clean. I wasdefinitely influenced by their positive approach to school life and theireducation. As a student, I loved every minute of this visit and I urge
other students to take part in this exchange programme in the years to
come.

#POPPY SELFIE
We Remembered Them.......
The sixth form students proved themselves once again to be great rolemodels for the school when they delivered assemblies to all other yeargroups following Remembrance Sunday. Lydia, Juliet and Sam provided anarrative whilst Insha, Will, Franchesca and Chris provided songs, poetry
and sound effects.
The assemblies provided an extremely moving account of why we use thePoppy as a symbol of Remembrance, as well as reminding the students ofthe importance of the occasion. Students were given examples of all theconflicts where men, women and animals have given their lives to enable
us to live in peace today.
We prayed for not only those who have died, but for those who are
suffering today because of world conflict. We especially remembered twosoldiers; Miss Cybulskas cousin who died in a conflict in Iraq, and MrsWoolacotts Great Uncle, Tom McCormack who died in the Great War in1915. May they rest in peace.
A quick fact: Did you know thatthe United Kingdom has foughtin 41 conflicts since the start of
the 1st World War?
Staff and students alike wereincredibly moved by theassembly.
It was a beautiful andthoughtful assembly which
highlighted how suffering stillcontinues today because of
war.
A touching and beautiful
assembly.

Once again the students of Holy Family took part in the Shakespeare

For the second year running we were asked to perform last,
performing Shakespeares Twelfth Night and were absolutely
fantastic and well received.
Our students worked alongside Silcoates Primary School, Wakefield

Well done to all students involved.
The only question now is; what are we performing next year!?

Baroness Doreen Lawrence
We were invited to attend Leeds Trinity University to hear
Doreen Lawrence speak about Black History and Social
Justice: Has Stephens Death Changed Education?
An inspirational woman who spoke of just being an ordinary
Mum whose life was thrown into turmoil from an appalling
tragedy, but who has fought to change our justice system for
the better.
Our students were clearly moved by her talk and provoked
lots of discussion and even prompted Erricson to ask a
question during the discussion.
