A sense of community permeates Autumn McLean’s life, and not just because she grew up in the Flat- head Valley. It’s also because of a memory she treasures from child- hood. “My mother, who was a sin- gle mom, purchased our first home when I was in the sixth grade,” she says. “I remember feeling a sense of security of having a home. That memory inspires me daily to help others, to help add value to the community.” Autumn started as a part-time loan processor while she was in college. She was just 20 years old, but knew right away that this was something she enjoyed doing, something she would be successful at. Her skill set was a perfect match for the job functions of a mortgage professional, which include being detail-oriented and having a great memory, among other abilities. Since those days, Autumn has gained an extensive back- ground in the behind-the-scenes processes and proce- dures that go into a loan. She’s worked in every fac- et of the industry, from being a processor to a closing document specialist. “From the time a loan is triggered to the time it’s funded,” she says, “I’m involved in every aspect.” And because she does her due diligence at the very beginning, her process is efficient. Last year, Autumn began focusing all her efforts on loan origination, and in a year’s time, she became one of the top producers in her company. Thanks to the myriad people she knows, as well as her referral partners, business now comes to her. Being able to make a difference in her community makes the challenges worthwhile. And it’s clear that she does, since many of her clients reach out to keep in touch with her, as well as the other way around. “I see them at family events and school events, and a lot of them become friends,” she says. “They’ll send me cards or a photo of the family with their new baby. I love that!” A few organizations that Autumn supports are Women Who Wine, a group of women who get together once a month—with wine—to brainstorm how they can impact the Valley. “Their annual benefit raises thousands of dollars for community organizations,” she says. Mann Mortgage also supports Camp Patriots, an organization that takes wounded and disabled veterans to a ranch in Yaak, Montana, for outdoor recreational therapy programs. The company also supports Ducks Unlimit- ed (a conservation group), local school functions, and more. “We always try to help with fundraisers in the community,” she says. Autumn’s family – two little girls and her husband – keep her busy on the home front. Whenever they have time, they enjoy outdoor activities, from whitewater rafting to hiking and camping. The children have been in ski school since they were tots, which makes for fun family ski outings. Autumn’s direction for the future became crystal clear recently, when she was invited to the Montana Board of Housing’s annual conference. Many of the speakers were involved in the Montana Coalition for Homeown- ership. “As I listened to them speak about their obsta- cles to creating homes for low-income families,” she says, “I realized that they need more voice, more people talking about and supporting the needs of the families in Montana. In 2016 I want to be part of the solution for Montanans.” Kalispell has an angel in its midst, and she goes by the name of Autumn. With a sustainable business that con- tinues to grow, she’ll continue to make an impact on her community for many years to come. A sense of community permeates Autumn McLean’s life, and not just because she grew up in the Flat-head Valley. It’s also because of a memory she treasures from child-hood. “My mother, who was a sin-gle mom, purchased our first home when I was in the sixth grade,” she says. “I remember feeling a sense

of security of having a home. That memory inspires me daily to help others, to help add value to the community.”
