SIMPLE PRESENT

Este tiempo se usa para:

1) Expresar hechos que necesariamente son reales y eventos en general. Ejemplos:

I live in London (Yo vivo en Londres)The sun shines (el sol brilla)

The dog has four legs (el perro tiene cuatro patas)2) Para expresar hábitos y rutinas. Ejemplos:

I go to work every day (Yo voy al trabajo todos los días)She brushes her teeth every evening (Ella se lava los dientes todas las noches)

Recuerda que cuando se conjugan verbos en tercera persona, estos agregan una s al final del verbo. Ejemplo:

She likes hamburgersThe doctor works at the hospital

Los verbos terminados en ss, sh, ch, x, se les agrega es. Ejemplo:

She washes the dishes at home.Monica fixes the computer.He teaches Spanish at the school.The student passes the exam.

Los auxiliares do y does tienen los siguientes usos:

1) Para expresar frases negativas en tercera persona (he, she, it) se utiliza doesn’t. Ejemplos:

Erika doesn’t go to work every day (Erika no va al trabajo todos los días)He doesn’t live in Colombia (Él no vive en Colombia)

2) Para los otros pronombres como I, you, we, they se utiliza don’t para frases negativas. Ejemplos:

I don’t eat fruit in breakfastCats don’t like water 

3) El auxiliar do se utiliza para realizar preguntas en presente simple, tomando en cuenta que este auxiliar sólo se puede usar con los pronombres I, you, we, they, al principio de la oración. Ejemplos:

Do you live in Colombia? Yes, I do.Do they work at the hospital? No, they don’t.Do your parents like hamburger? Yes, they do.

(Mira cómo el auxiliar se utiliza para responder de manera

corta, con Yes o con No)

4) El auxiliar does sólo se utiliza en las terceras personas (he, she, it) para realizar preguntas en tiempopresente. Siempre van al principio de la oración. Ejemplos:

Does your mother cook spaghetti? Yes, she does.Does he work at the school? No, he doesn’t.

(Mira cómo el auxiliar se utiliza para responder de maneracorta, con Yes ó con No)

5) Recuerda que cuanto utilices los auxiliar does y doesn’t el verbo no cambia su forma. Por ejemplo:

Does your mother make lunch?

Does he go to work?It doesn’t rain on JulyMy brother doesn’t like to do the homework

Existen unos verbos que su forma en tercera persona son irregulares como have, go¸ do. Ejemplos: 

She goes to the supermarketMy sister does the homeworkHe has two children

Los verbos terminados en consonante + y cambian esta y por i latina y se les agrega es. (try, fry, fly) Ejemplos:

He tr ies to play soccer

PRESENT CONTINUOUS

El presente continuo se utiliza para describir las acciones que están ocurriendo en el momento. Por ejemplo:

Recuerde que el presente continuo se utiliza con el verbo to be conjugado en presente y al verbo principal se le agregaing.

Verbos que terminan en e se omite la e y se adiciona ing. Ejemplos:

Verbos que terminan en y sólo agregan ing. Ejemplos:

Study – studying I’m studying English (Yo estoy estudiando Inglés)Play – playing My brother is playing soccer (Mi hermano está

Verbos que terminan en una vocal + consonante se duplica la consonante. Ejemplos:
