RecommendationsLikeallmicro-mechanicalprecisioninstruments,yourHamiltonwatchshouldbecheckedatleastonceeverytwoyears.EntrustyourwatchonlytoanauthorizedHamiltonagent.Tokeepyourwatchwater-resistant,makesurethatitssealingfeaturesaretestedateverycheck-up.Thewater-resistanceofyourwatchisindicatedonthecaseback.

Five basic rules for maintaining the water-resistance of your watch 1. Haveyourwatchcheckedregularly.

2. Donotmovethecrownwhenyouareinwater.

3. Rinseoffyourwatchwithfreshwaterafteranyimmersioninseawater.

4. Dryyourwatchwheneveritgetswet.

5. Haveyourwatchcheckedforwater-resistancebyanauthorizedHamiltonagenteachtimethecaseisopened.

Automatic movement. The mechanism ofthe watch includes an oscillating rotor thatwindsthemainspringviathemotionofyourwrist.Thepowerreserve isapproximately42hours.Ifnecessary,thewatchmayberewoundmanually.Withmostofourmodels,thebeautyoftheinnerworkingofthewatchmovementcanbeadmiredthroughthetransparentcaseback.

Quartz movement.Theelectricalenergypro-videdbythebatterycausesthequartzintheinterior of the watch movement to oscillate32,768timespersecond.Thishighfrequencygives great accuracy.The seconds hand ad-vancesinsteps.

Adjustments

NB: Oncertainmodels thecrown is screweddownto guarantee optimal water-resistance. It must beunscrewedtomakeadjustments.Afteradjustmentsmakesureitisscreweddownagain.Pleasenotethatwater-resistanceisonlyguaranteedwhenthecrownisscreweddown.

Setting the time1. PulloutthecrownCcompletelytoposition(p2):

thesecondshandstops*.

2. Setthetimebyturningthecrowninthedesireddirection.

3. Pushthecrownbackincompletely:thesecondshandstartsagain,allowingperfectsynchronizationwithatimesignal.

Setting the date and the day 1. PulloutthecrownCtoposition(p1).

2. Turnthecrowncounterclockwiseuntilthedesireddateisdisplayedandclockwisetodisplaythedesiredday.

3. Pushthecrownbackincompletely.

Setting the time zone and the date

1. PulloutthecrowntoCtoposition(p1).

2. Turnthecrowntoadvancethehourhand.Thedatechangeseachtimethehandpasses12o’clockmidnight.

3. Pushthecrownbackincompletely.

Important: Donot leavethecrown inposition(p1)forlongerthan20minutes,asthismightinterferewiththetimefunction.

Using the chronograph

Start-Stop functionTimingasingleevent:1. PressbuttonA:thechronographstarts.

2. PressbuttonA:thechronographstops.

3. PressbuttonBtoresettozero.

NB: Beforeyoustarttiming,thehandsshouldberesettozero.Ifnecessary,pressbuttonB.

Cumulative time functionThismeasuressuccessivetimes.Eachresultisaddedtothepreviousone.1. PressbuttonA:thechronographstarts.

2. PressbuttonAagain:thechronographstops.Repeatthesetwostepsasmanytimesasdesired.Attheendofthelastmeasurement,thechronographdisplaysthetotalofallthetimesmeasured.PressbuttonBtoresettozero.

Technical information

TelemeterScaleshowingthedistancetraveledbyasoundinacertaintime.Forexample,tomeasurethedistanceseparatingyoufromastorm,startthechronographwhenyouseelightningandstopitwhenyouheartheresultingthunder.Ameasurementof3secondsgivesadistanceof1kmonthetelemeterscale.

TachometerScaleshowingtheaveragespeedofavehicle.Usingthechronograph(Start/Stop)function,measurethetimetakentotravel1km.Theaveragespeedcanbereadonthetachometerscale.

Ex: 20seconds=180km/h

E.O.L. function (indicationoftheendofbatterylife)Ifthesecondshandstartstomovein4-secondsteps,thebatteryshouldbechangedbyyourHamiltonagent.
