Students Work: Class Presentation

A 2-hour presentation of their selected topicWe want to see details of the algorithmsWe want to understand how they work, propertiesWe want concrete examples: step by step presentationPrior to the presentation, you should have installed the

corresponding planning system on either:• A computer in my LAB (PA 250) or• One of the Solaris machines from PC lab or• University’s super computer • should have run their test domain on that system

As part of the presentation will explain how to use their system. You should be the expert for that system

Lots of material available but make your own!

YOU ARE GOING TO NEED A LOT OF TIME TO PREPARE

Page 3: Automated Planning Student’s Work

Students work: Mid Term and Final Reports• You are going to select a test domain (1-to-1)• You are going to perform experiments with each system covered in

class to compare performance of test domain• You are going to report the results:

First a detailed description of each system in your own words/presentation/figures/etc: algorithms, properties

Detailed example of how systems work with the test domain Performance results of running systems (time, number of steps

in plan) Discussion of these results: why behave good/bad/better with

system X than with system Y Class presentation of performance results and discussion: 20

minutes• Mid Term: VanillaIce, Graphplan, Blackbox, FastForward • Final: SHOP, TLPlan, TLPlan+time constraints, GPT

Percentage Distribution

• Presentation: 30%• Midterm report: 30%• Final report: 40%

• Notes:Grades will be given according to the amount of work

invested relative to your classmatesAssistance to class is required. Missing one class is

equivalent to missing a whole week of classes
