2. New and Improved Design and Navigation Controls

The look and feel of the Designer has been overhauled to make it even easier to find what you need with minimal interruption.

Greater emphasis has been placed on key features

like design sharing, to allow you to quickly get feedback on design ideas from friends, family, or colleagues.

New capabilities from design exporting to account

preference editing have been added.

Context sensitive navigation controls provide easy access to the commands you need based on your view of the design (2D or 3D).

Quickly switch back and forth between 2D and 3D views of a design using the 2D / 3D toggle.

From either view, use the Pan control to navigate around a design and the Fit to Screen to reset the zoom and orientation by viewing the entire design within the Designer.

In a 3D View, rotate your design by clicking the left and right rotation buttons.

Finally, we’ve provided more screen real estate. Users can switch into Project Dragonfly’s full screen mode for a grander view of their designs.

d. Improved Catalog Layout and User Assistance – Content is organized into tabs within the Catalog saving valuable design time when browsing for design items. Structural and building elements are now located on their own Build tab within the Catalog. Each section within the Build tab has been labeled according to content use. Whether selecting a new room, a closet or wall inside an existing room, or dropping a wall opening or shaped wall add-on onto an existing wall, new labeling helps ensure clarity about the content’s behavior and placement restrictions.

e. Improved Room Wall Snapping (Alignment) Capabilities – Just as a set of building blocks snaps together, walls in Project Dragonfly snap together. When adding a new room to a design or a closet to an existing room, snapping is automatic.

2. New Basic Landscaping Capabilities – By popular demand, basic landscaping features are now included in Project Dragonfly. Create a basic landscaping plan by quickly drawing external grass, asphalt, concrete, or other areas. Then draw pathways, decks, water, or other surface features on top of these areas before adding plants and trees to complete the external landscape concept.

Creating simple landscaping areas and other external surface features is easy and efficient with Dragonfly’s new landscape area drawing tools. Simply select the area material of your choice, click anywhere on the design canvas, and follow the intuitive user assistance pop-ups that follow the cursor as a guide until an individual area is completed. Modifying any outdoor surface is accomplished in the same fashion as modifying an interior floor area in Dragonfly. Simply select the outdoor surface of choice from the catalog and “drag and drop” it into the area being modified. To adjust the size, select and drag any edge or corner of the area until the required size is reached. Create curved edges (or straighten them) by selecting an edge and using the intuitive properties dialog to make the change. Finally, drag and drop plants and trees into the design to complete the basics of the desired landscaping features. Sample #1 with Landscaping Sample #2 with Landscaping

Select any resizable item that has been placed in a room on the design canvas and open the Info option dialog as shown here. Choose a color option by either selecting it directly from the color picker or by entering in the specific Hex Color Code that matches the design requirements. There are many sources available on the internet that provide extensive information about Hex Color Codes, including: - W3Schools - http://www.w3schools.com/Html/html_colornames.asp - Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors - HTML Color Codes - http://html-color-codes.info/#HTML_Color_Picker When entering the Hex Color Code, do not include the “#” symbol. Only the six alphanumeric characters that accompany this symbol in the color code.

Adding a room label is easy:

a. Select any room or closet that has been added to a design.

b. Select the Info pop-up and enter the required room label text.

5. Streamlined Application Navigation and Task Bar Design More space has been dedicated to the design canvas by relocating both the application navigation tabs (Designer, Gallery, My Designs) as well as the Dragonfly Designer task bar, providing a more streamlined and efficient design experience. Return to the home page at any time by clicking on “Autodesk Project Dragonfly”.

6. New Multi-Level / Multi-Scenario Feature Create designs with up to four levels using Project Dragonfly’s Add a Level task bar. The Add a Level dialog provides several options for customizing the new “design set”. Besides adding a basic title and description to the design, a default level can be chosen. The default level represents the thumbnail “view” of the design seen from My Designs or the public Gallery. It also represents the level that is opened in the Dragonfly Designer, by default, when selected from the Gallery, My Designs, or the Open design dialog. Options are available to either “clone” a previously created level in the design or to start from

scratch. Cloning a design creates an exact replica of the level chosen in the drop down (Walls, furniture, etc) in order to increase efficiency when creating multi-level designs in Project Dragonfly. Navigating between levels is accomplished by simply selecting the level that is required to be opened in the Dragonfly design canvas. To adjust the Level Properties or to delete a specific level, choose the appropriate option from the level drop down area. Finally, the new Multi-Levels feature is a flexible component of Dragonfly and can also be used to compare multiple scenarios or options for a design by simply using the Level Title and description fields to define the specific options being compared. In this way, up to four design scenarios can be compared quickly by simply clicking through each “level”.

7. Improved Design Information Dialog plus New Design Titles and Description Area

Now a design’s title and description will be displayed each time it is opened in Dragonfly’s Designer. Additionally, the design can be quickly categorized using the new design tags feature to identify the type and room areas that are included in the design. The improved My Designs tab provides quicker access to information about a user’s designs and more flexible methods for sorting, filtering, and viewing larger numbers of saved designs.

First, use the primary Designs drop down on this page to quickly toggle the view between All Designs, only designs that are visible on the public gallery (Public Designs), or only private designs. Then, using the sort and pages drop downs, the order and number of designs in the view can be adjusted quickly. 9. New Gallery Viewing and Filtering Features Make Design Exploration Easy and Fun

The new Design Gallery filter, sorting, and display options make it easier to create a personalized view into the thousands of designs that have been created and shared by the Project Dragonfly community.

Use the primary Designs drop down on this page to quickly toggle the view between all designs and “Featured Designs”, noting how the Featured Designs option contains a much smaller set of saved designs. Next, use the sort and pages drop downs to quickly adjust the order and number of designs in the view.

More complex queries can be created easily using the New “Filter by Tags” feature available from the Gallery tab. Select one or more “tags” to filter by within the Filter by Tags dialog to reduce the result set further. For example, selecting “Last 7 Days” as a creation date tag and combining this with “5 stars” under the community rating tag will display designs created during the last 7 days with five star ratings.

Clear active tags by simply clicking on “Clear All” or on a specific tag.

10. New Community Based Design Ratings Feature

The New Design Ratings feature provides an easy way to express opinions about designs viewed in the Gallery. Sorting by “Highest Ratings” provides a look at the community’s consensus opinion about the perceived quality of the various designs.

Rating a design in the Dragonfly Gallery is easy. Login and then, similar to other ratings sites, hover the mouse over the stars to record the ratings value.

Logged in users can rate as many designs as they wish. However, only the last rating for a particular design in counted (1 vote per user, per design).

The enhanced design information dialog now provides details related to these ratings, views, and tags. This dialog is available for any design in the Gallery.
