LTO to implement 'No Plate, No Travel' policy early 2015Car dealers will not be allowed to deliver the vehicle until it is registered

Land Transportation Office (LTO) Spokesman Jason Salvador has announced that the 'No Plate, No Travel' policy will finally be implemented next year.According to a report by the Manila Bulletin, Salvador confirmed that the said policy will be implemented early next year. Salvador also said that car dealers will not be allowed to deliver the vehicle to their customers until it is registered with the issuance of the official receipt, certificate of registration and license plates.In previous reports, Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio 'Jun' Abaya said that license plates have been pilling up in LTO storage rooms because car dealers do not claim the newly issued license plates.In a statement to AutoIndustriya.com, LTO Chief Atty. Alfonso V. Tan, Jr. said that the implementation was previously postponed due to the request of car manufacturers and dealers. He is also encourage car buyers to have their vehicles registered as soon as possible to avoid delays in issuance of license plates.With this, LTO is posting a fine of PHP 10,000 to anyone who violates the 'No Plate, No Travel' policy. Moreover, LTO said vehicles that travel with no license plates will be impounded. On the other hand, car dealers may face suspension, citations and the revocation of their accreditation to sell should they deliver vehicles without the issuance of the official receipt, certificate of registration and license plates.
