The annual auto festival will last till May 26 presenting activities such as a karting carni- val, auto industry tour, auto exhibition and caravan and camping fair. The karting carnival, running until May 6 at the Shanghai circuit, will give fans the experi- ence of acceleration, rushing and drifting on Asia’s most challenging karting tracks. Visitors will have access to the Volkswagen 3rd Plant in Anting Town through May on an auto industry tour during which they will see how cars are assembled. An auto exhibition at the Shanghai Auto Mu- seum will feature around 100 vintage cars. The 9th Shanghai International Road Trip and Recreational Vehicle Camping Show will be at the Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center from May 18 to 20. Besides a display of caravans, modified cars and yachts, the show will present an auto summit, camping life experience and food carnival. The auto culture festival will end with a Fer- rari racing carnival from May 24 to 26 at the Shanghai circuit. The 10,000-square-meter wiste- ria park came into being thanks to Michio Fujimoto, the former mayor of Wake Town in Japan’s Okayama Prefecture. It was built in September 1997 to mark the 10th anniversary of friendly exchanges between Jiading and Wake and opened to the public in May 1999. It was China’s first wisteria-themed park and attracts around 500,000 visitors during the months of April and May. A zisha, or purple clay, teapot is not just a pot, but also art. Shanghai- style teapot artist Xu Sihai founded the Sihai Teapot Museum in 1993 in a seven-story building in Jiading. The museum houses more than 300 exquisite teapots from as far back as the Ming Dynasty (1368- 1644). There is also a tearoom for visitors on the first floor with tables and chairs made in the Qing Dy- nasty (1644-1911). The exhibition halls on the second to fifth floors are decorated with wood carvings. Apart from teapots, visitors can see ceramic artworks collected by Xu over the past 30 years. The designer has kept the original fea- tures of the factory building while bringing in elements of Buddhism to create a space where visitors can find contemporary art, history, culture, exhibits and architecture combining well together. The museum was set up by Ding Furen, a Shanghainese collector, and the items reflect more than 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture. Among the pieces is what the museum con- siders its greatest treasure — a set of Molin plates and tableware for weddings modeled on the Em- peror Tongzhi (1856-1875) style. The plates were made by Qiu Xile from Jingdezhen over 20 years. On the plates are 165 master- pieces from 84 calligraphers from the Western Jin Dynasty (265- 316 AD) to the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). 1,000 race in F1 history, Jiading as an auto city is embracing its 2019 Shanghai Auto Culture Festival.

The annual auto festival will last till May 26 presenting activities such as a karting carni-val, auto industry tour, auto exhibition and caravan and camping fair.

The karting carnival, running until May 6 at the Shanghai circuit, will give fans the experi-ence of acceleration, rushing and drifting on Asia’s most challenging karting tracks.

Visitors will have access to the Volkswagen 3rd Plant in Anting Town through May on an auto industry tour during which they will see how cars are assembled.

An auto exhibition at the Shanghai Auto Mu-seum will feature around 100 vintage cars.
