ACTIVITY ς choose the activities that you would like to do or those that you have the resources to do. You should

complete at least five.

Science RE

Why did dinosaurs become extent? You are going to investigate the hypothesis that an asteroid impact caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. In the activity, create a Dinosaur Food Web, using the given cards and paper connectors to create a food web from the time of the dinosaurs. Using this model, follow the flow of energy through the food web and work out why dinosaurs became extinct but some other animals survived.

1. Watch the video clip below. https://mysteryscience.com/ecosystems/mystery-6/food-webs-flow-of-energy/212?code=NDEwMDY3MDQ&t=student

2. Follow the instructions in the clip to create your own dinosaur Food Web using the cards from the resources below. Remember…it’s NOT a food chain! The cards interconnect so you need to read the information about each dinosaur on each card CAREFULLY !

3. Once you are happy with your web, answer the questions on the activity sheet below.

ISLAM

This week in RE we would have been studying a particular area of the Islamic Religion -– Guidance for Muslims. This is to do with the different rules that Muslims follow when practising their faith. Islam is known as one of the most peaceful and prayerful religions in the world. People who follow the Islamic faith are known as Muslims. As with all faiths, there are certain rules that Muslims are guided by when practising their faith. We, as Catholics and Christians, follow the 10 Commandments – Muslims are guided by a set of rules called the Five Pillars 0f Islam.

What do we mean by pillars? A pillar is something which supports a building, and stops it falling down. The 5 Pillars of Islam are 5 things which a Muslim would do to show they were committed to the religion of Islam. Following these Pillars ‘supports’ and helps Muslims to follow their religion. They are basically 5 different duties that they have to carry out. SEE HELP SHEET BELOW TASK 1 QUESTIONS TO ANSWER: 1. How do you think these Pillars give guidance to Muslims? 2. Which Pillars are about worship and which are about action for others? 3. Why do you think that Shahadah is the most important Pillar? Create a poster explaining the Five Pillars of Islam to children who know nothing about them.

TASK 2 Think about the 5 Pillars and what you have to do to follow them. Complete the activity sheet below, considering if you would find it hard or easy to follow…remember to give reasons why.

Design and Technology Geography History

DINO Create your own 3D dinosaur out of recycled materials. Plan/draw it first, labelling its’ different features and the materials out of which it is made - then create your model, remembering to take a photograph of the finished Dino alongside its’ plan!

OCEAN PLASTIC POLLUTION Think about why our oceans are important and the different ways in which plastic pollution is harmful to our oceans and seas. Check out the information sheets below to help. 1.Mind map your ideas 2.Create a poster about stopping/reducing plastic pollution in our Oceans – remember to think about the impact of the plastic on habitats and wildlife and to give facts/statistics etc

TIME CAPSULE Create a ‘time capsule’ with some of today’s popular items, draw a picture of yourself now, find newspaper clippings of what’s currently happening and write a letter explaining what your life is like right now. — what is favourite colour, who are your friends, what job do you want to do in the future? – Then bury the capsule in your garden so that you or someone else can look back at it and find out what was life was like today. Remember to take a photo of it for the blog, as well as photos of the different items in it.

Art PSHE&C Lƴ ǘƘŜ ²ƻNJƭŘΧ

Muslims think it is wrong to try to represent Allah’s work. For this reason, Muslims do not believe in making pictures of humans or animals. Geometric Shapes One form of Islamic art is Geometric Art. This is when basic shapes are put together and repeated to make patterns. This form of art is very colourful. Mehndi Patterns Mehndi art originated in Ancient Egypt when Egyptians decorated Mummies with henna. Over time, the tradition for celebrating important occasions with beautiful henna body art spread throughout Africa, India and Arab countries. Henna decorated hands are now common around the world when people celebrate events such as Divali, Eid-ul-Fitr (which marks the end of Ramadan) and Islamic weddings. Task 1 Different examples of Islamic patterns to colour. Task 2 Can you create your own Islamic patterns using a ruler and a compass. Remember – the patterns are repeat patterns and quite often symmetrical Task 3 Draw around your hands and using the examples of Mehndi Pattern designs below and only a drawing pencil, create your own.

This week we are thinking about Positivity. What does this mean? Have a look in a dictionary if you want to be sure. What positive things do people say to us? How do these comments make us feel? There is a lot of negativity around, especially at the moment – how do negative thoughts make us feel? We are going to try and encourage people to be positive. You are going to produce a leaflet to help people be positive – to encourage them to turn negative comments into positive comments. For example, you only got 16 /20 on the Math’s test – I only lost 4 points and it was better than my last result! Remember to use bright colours and clear wording to get your message across. When your leaflet is finished, share it – with family, siblings and me!

This week year 6, we are revising the food we talked about in class. Use this activity to go over the vocabulary we have talked about. https://www.french-games.net/frenchtopics. There are different sections with fruit, vegetables and drinks. Now can you design your own meal. Draw your plate and drink, colour them of course and label the food and drinks in French. I would love to see pictures of your work! If you want to practice the vocabulary more you can play a variety of games here - https://www.french-games.net/frenchgames/four-in-a-row?topic=Food%20-%20drinks%20and%20snacks&level=primary
