Steven Stratton , Senior service Engineer, Siemens Perth, Australia

Worked at Siemens for 21 Years in the Mechanical drives (Flender) division. Spent 17 years in the UK working in the service department, field service upgrade and repair in various positions; mostly in the

wind industry. Transferred to Siemens Australia in 2012 as after sales service and Vibration analysis technician (registered ISO VA level 2). Peter Kelsall, ManagerMaintenanceandShutdowns,Amec Foster Wheeler, Australia

Peter has over 25 years’ experience working in all areas of Engineering, Construction, Project Management and Maintenance Management in the Mineral Processing, Chemical and Oil and Gas

industries. Working in maintenance and engineering management roles for both client and contractor organisations has provided significant experience in the delivery of Major Shutdowns and Turnarounds across all industries as well as from client and contract perspectives. Much of Peter’s last 20 years has been involved in the development of integrated structures and contracting approaches through organisation structures, contracting arrangements and joint ventures aimed to ultimately achieve aligned objectives, this has been applied to both construction and maintenance applications. During this time he has worked for United Group (Cobar, Gove and Shell Geelong), WMC Limited (Roxby Downs and Queensland Fertiliser Operations) and for the last 13 years Amec Foster Wheeler in both Australia and the UK.

Shayne Arthur, Head of Risk at Orca, Australia

Shayne has been actively involved in risk and safety management for a number of years across many industry sectors including, defence, maritime, retail, construction, transport, mining and chemical. He has been involved in providing both tactical risk management support to operational units and strategic advice to Senior Managers and Boards. This support has been provided from the perspective of both a full time in-house resource and in the capacity as a consultant. More recently Shayne has been responsible for the development and implementation of enterprise wide risk management systems in two ASX Top 50 Companies in the Resource, Chemical and Explosives Manufacturing sectors. As the General Manager responsible for risk in both organisations he ensured systems were in place to cater for both operational and strategic risk management. This involved the successful establishment and training of internal risk teams and the introduction and imbedding of new integrated risk management methodologies. Over a number of years working across different industries he has identified two common issues with the management of organisational risk:

• The use of poor quality risk management tools and processes. The quality of resulting data makes it difficult for decision makers to effectively understand their organisational risks and make informed decisions.

• Lack of internal risk management skills. When an organisation understands there is opportunity to improve

the quality of output from their risk management processes, it is common to engage consulting services to deliver these improvements. Often the development of internal capability and skill with this new approach to risk management is a secondary priority and internal ownership and capability are compromised. With improved risk intelligence and a better understanding of its risks an organisation is better equipped to determine which risks are important and what information is needed to ensure that effective controls are implemented to minimise or reduce the effect of an uncertainty. In short, organisations can make more informed decisions. To help realise these improvements in risk management RiskCo has been established with the objective of helping organisations adopt more advanced and sustainable risk management solutions. This is achieved by delivering risk intelligence through the application of bowtie and partially quantified risk analysis using the Controlled Centred Risk Intelligence (C2RI) methodology coupled, with the training of internal personnel and facilitators. This will extend the longevity of the risk management solution, delivering optimised benefit to operational and strategic business decisions from the onset and well after the consulting engagement has ended.
