Position Overview

The Social Policy group
The Social Policy and Service Delivery Reform group is responsible for Aboriginal Victoria, Aboriginal affairs policy, multicultural affairs and social cohesion, education, justice, health and human service policy, equality and intergovernmental strategy. The group is also responsible for coordinating the National Disability Insurance Scheme, contributing to the development of strategic social services reforms, and whole-of-government family violence policy, including monitoring and coordinating the delivery of all 227 Royal Commission recommendations.
The Justice branch
Justice Branch provides high-quality, strategic analysis and advice on justice policy issues to support the Premier and Cabinet. The Branch also contributes to the development and delivery of key policies and priority projects from a whole-of-government perspective across the justice portfolio. This includes working within the policy portfolio areas of:
• Attorney-General, including legal policy and courts
• Police
• Youth Justice
• Corrections
• Family Violence and Perpetrator Accountability.
Duties
The internship is an opportunity to work at the centre of a range of challenging issues and will provide an insight into a public service policy career. The internship will allow you to apply your strategic thinking, analytics and influencing skills within a supportive environment.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to, and work on, a diverse range of matters across the Justice Branch, including
• conducting research on policy issues
• assisting in the preparation of briefings
• attending meetings with DPC officers working on relevant matters
• responding to correspondence.

Eligibility Requirements
· Currently studying in their final or penultimate year of a relevant undergraduate or post-graduate degree with an Australian university
· Australian citizens or permanent residents· All preferred applicants will be required to produce sufficient proof of their identity prior to
commencing employment with the department and the employment of successful candidates will be subject to a National Police Check
