Through a 10-part poster series in the Herald Sun newspaper, we will profile 10 of Australia’s early pioneers, while providing activities that help you as a teacher meet your curriculum needs in English, Geography, History and Civics & Citizenship. Australia’s pioneers we will proudly feature in the Herald Sun will be Bass and Flinders, Caroline Chisholm, Henry Parkes, Catherine Spence, Mary Mackillop, John Flynn, Douglas Mawson, Charles Kingsford Smith, Howard Florey and Eddie Mabo. As part of the kit teachers will receive 40 secondary activity worksheets and 40 primary activity worksheets directly linked to the 10-part poster series. Teachers will receive class sets of 25 Herald Sun newspapers during the course of the poster series. Kit subscribers who order online will be able to download their activity workbooks straight away to start planning lessons before newspaper delivery starts. Formerly a financial analyst, she returned to university to study for her Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary) at the Australian Catholic University in Ballarat. Kristy’s interests lie in the middle years of schooling, utilising digital learning technologies. Kathryn D’Elia Secondary activity workbook author Kathryn D’Elia is the Head of Humanities and the Middle Years Program Coordinator at Goulburn Valley Grammar School in Shepparton. She has taught in Catholic and Independent schools in Tasmania and Victoria, across the Humanities, Science and English curriculum areas. She has written resources for previous Herald Sun Newspapers in Education kits and presented sessions at several Professional Development conferences, including the HTAV Middle Years Conference and the HTAV Annual Conference. Terms and Conditions• The Herald Sun’s Newspaper in Education kits (NiE Kits) are available to teachers and schools where a

participating newsagent service is available. NiE Kits include the supply of newspapers for the dates specified by each individual NiE offer.

• NiE Kits are limited and available only while stocks last.

• Online orders are only available if payment in full is made using a valid credit card. If you wish to pay by cheque, email [email protected] or phone Customer Service on 1800 680 640 to request an Order Form.

• Orders must include the full name and address of the primary or secondary school to receive the newspaper delivery. If a private order, written evidence of permission from the nominated school that delivery of the newspapers will be accepted must be provided with the order.

• NiE Kits are purchased as a package and component parts (classroom newspaper sets, student workbooks and other resources) cannot be split or purchased separately.

• All Newspaper in Education kits include the full newspaper supply of newspapers for the dates specified by each individual NiE offer.

• Unless otherwise specified, 25 copies of the Herald Sun will be delivered on each specified day by the local area newsagent. Please check you receive the correct number of newspapers each day.
