A major feature of the program will be the BORDER 21International Conference - The First and Last Line of Defence:Border Security Challenges in the Evolving World.
BORDER 21 is being organised by Curtin University’sDepartment of Social Sciences and Security Studies.
It will examine the full spectrum of threats to nationalsovereignty posed by organised crime, people traffickers,poachers and terrorist organisations.
Department head Dr Alexey Muraviev, who will run BORDER 21,is also Director of the university’s Strategic Flashlight on nationalsecurity and strategy, a program of seminars and workshopsfocussed on Australian and regional strategic and security.
Conference sessions will be held 31 May - 1 June and will
feature speakers from Australia, the Indo-Asia-Pacific regionand the European Union.

• Counter Terrorism and Policing Seminar - Chaired by Associate Professor Nick O’Brien, Head of the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security, Charles Sturt University.

It is being organised, on a pro bono basis, by IndustryDefence and Security Australia Limited, which is a member ofthe not-for-profit group headed by Aerospace Maritime andDefence Foundation of Australia Limited.
Members of the group are known internationally for theirflagship defence technology events such as the AustralianInternational Airshow and Aerospace and DefenceExposition, the Pacific International Maritime Exposition andthe Land Forces Exposition.
Like those quality events this new venture will be held biennially.
Entrance to the conferences, seminars and workshops will be
free of charge, though limited to bona fide practitioners andprofessionals.
