Let Us Know You’re Coming. Please register ahead
Even when the programs are free, we ask that you call ahead to say you plan to attend. We need to know how many to expect in order to have suffi-
cient materials prepared and to reserve the proper-size room for the activity. Also this allows us to call you when a program is cancelled due to low enroll-ment or instructor illness. We welcome you to join us, but it is tremendously helpful if you assist us in
planning by calling to reserve your space.

Joan Hart: American Impressionist William Merritt Chase
Mon., June 13, 1:00 – 2:45PM
Cost: $6 (need to register ahead, #911605-88)
Summer is the perfect season for the Phillips Collection to showcase some 60 works of art
by one of the America’s leading artists, William Merritt Chase. Often categorized as an
American Impressionist, Chase captured, like his French contemporaries Monet and Renoir,
the world around him in both portraits and landscapes, full of color and light. Among his
favorite subjects were his wife and several daughters whether at his luxurious studio in
New York City or his summer home on the seaside at Southampton, Long Island. Chase
was also a famous teacher, influencing a generation of American artists including Georgia
O’Keeffe. This program will take you on a tour of this exhibition (organized to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death), offering an overall view of Chase’s
paintings and pastels, which often rivaled the French impressionists in their beauty and
vitality.

theatre educator, in the reading of some of the great plays of the Modern

times and which continue to shape our own. Won’t you join me, then, to find
out what happens next in the lively adventure of the drama
Movie: The Big Short (R)

to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their
bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking
where they must question everyone and everything. Starring: Christian Bale,
Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, movie released in 2015.
