Auris Labs uses one of the highest resolution systems in the industry.

The Perfactory 3 Digital Shell Printer Envision Tec’s Perfactory 3 Digital Shell Printer can build up to 40 shells in 2-3 hours as the DLP process cures all parts simultaneously. The resolution is transferred into the highest quality surface fi nishes achievable by any rapid manufacturing process. This machine is the preferred choice for leading hearing aid manufacturers.

How our Service Works

Receiving & ScanningWhen an order is placed we receive either a digital copy of your ear impression (EMI) or a physical ear impression. When we receive a digital EMI, we inspect the EMI for usability* before sending it off to be used in the modelling stage. Physical EMIs are also inspected for usability and modified to allow our 3D scanner to create an accurate digital representation of your ear. When the digital file is approved, it is sent to the modelling stage.

* If it is determined that the ear impression will not be suitable to make a cus-tom mold, we will inform you of the option to either send a new, adequate EMI or forfeit our 180-day fit warranty.

1

Modelling & PrintingOnce an approved digital EMI has been received, it is time for the model processing. The EMI is the base reference when modelling and designing your custom ear molds. Our 3D software follows every curve and contour of your ear for a perfect fit*. Once the mold is modelled, it is prepared for printing. We use a state of the art digital light processing (DLP) printing process with a voxel resolution up to fifty micrometers (50 µm).

* While the molds are modelled exactly based off your ear impression, everyone’s ear may have unique sensitivities or movements that aren’t represented by the EMI we receive.

2

Post & ShippingAfter your custom molds have been printed they are sent through post-processing. Your molds will first be cleaned of any residual resin and then cured to final hardness. We then buff out any bumps or ridges left over from the printer and seal the mold with lacquer for a smooth, clear finish. Once your molds pass final quality assurance, they are packaged up and shipped to your door.

Auris Labs has worked with the Canadian Armed Forces to provide a hearing protection solution for Pilots and ground crew at various bases across Canada. We pride ourselves in working closely with the Canadian Armed Forces in revising our product to deliver the best noise protection and comfort that our forces need.

We have also worked with the RCMP to provide custom ear pieces for one-way radio com munications, allowing law enforcement to wear discrete ear pieces that fit perfectly to their ear. These earmolds, as pictured below, are designed with the maximum allowable venting which ensures law enforcement can still easily hear the environment around them.

Construction & ManufacturingKEY FEATURES19 dB reduction.Stops most high frequency sounds. Allows 70 dB (normal speech) sounds through.Nylon cord included.

Construction and manufacturing are very noisy industries, requiring nearly every individual in this job sector to wear hearing protection of some kind. Disposable foam ear plugs are okay in a pinch but don’t offer equal protection for everyone, since every ear is unique. Solid custom noise plugs are great for maximum hearing protection; however, they also impede com -mu nication between employees.

Hocks Noise Brakers solve this issue by reducing noise levels to a more comfortable level. The Noise Braker reduces high volume sound waves by employing the use of dampers and sudden diameter changes. These physical features reflective or induce destructive interference to the sound waves. Hocks Noise Brakers have a noise reduction rating (NRR) of 19, allowing 19 dB of protection in a C-Weighted mea-surement or 12 dB of protection from an A-Weighted measurement.

Auris Labs offers impulse noise protection that provides hearing protection against the sound of gunfire. Using a custom noise plug with a Sonic Valve II™, from Health Enterprises, the wearer can safely operate a fi rearm while still maintaining the ability to hear normal sounds around them.

The Sonic Valve II™ achieves this by having a diaphragm encased in aluminium. The diaphragm acts as a “pop filter” reducing high pressure and high decibel noises. The Sonic Valve II™ features a noise reduction rating (NRR) of 18, which offers 18 dB of protection in a C-Weighted measurement or 11 dB of protection from an A-Weighted measurement.

KEY FEATURESRemoval String.10, 17, 26 dB reduction.Interchangeable filters.

Musician noise plugs are a great option for getting the exact amount of noise protection required, not only for musicians, but other individuals who don’t need full noise protection from a solid noise plug.

Auris Labs offer six different filters from two respected brands, with each filter having its own noise reduction rating (NRR) and attenuation characteristics at different frequencies.

DM MINI Dynamic Ear musician fi lters offer a linear acoustic filter (DM MINI) that is fitted with the largest membrane possible for the required attenuation. This membrane allows moisture to escape from the ear canal. It is important that the correct attenuation level is chosen as too much attenuation can lead to occlusion which can cause the wearer to feel removed from the environment.

ER Filters Etymotic Research (ER) musician fi lters were fi rst developed 25 years ago by Dr. Mead Killion, during a study for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The results of Dr. Killion aided ER in producing musician fi lters that offer linear sound reduction, allowing music and speech to sound clear and natural.

Sleep plugs are a variation of noise plugs that use more discrete shapes and softer materials that reduce the likelihood of being disturbed during sleep. Sleep plugs are great for those who live in loud, busy environments, or for those who need sleep during the day.

Our sleep plugs are made standard as a full shell scooped with silicone 40 shore. Canal style is another popular option, as well as some individuals opting for an even softer 25 shore silicone.

SwimmingKEY FEATURESSeals ear canal.Buoyant.Vinyl Cord.

It is easy to think that hearing protection is only necessary for loud noises, but that is not the case. A simple ear infection can, at best, cause discomfort for a few days or, at worse, result in hearing damage. One of the most common ways to contract an ear infection is from going swimming in not only lakes and rivers, but private and public pools as well.

Auris Labs offers Swim plugs that help reduce the possibility of an ear infection from swimming. Our swim plugs are made of a buoyant silicone and come standard with a detachable vinyl cord. The buoyant silicone and vinyl cord can help with mold recovery if the molds are removed or dislodged accidentally.
