Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. (Psalm
68:19)
There is a pattern to our lives that is so deeply established in our beings that we don’t often
even think about it. Each day our planet turns once on its axis exposing us to a period of
daylight and a period of night. Throughout our lives we are formed by that simple reality.
We live life one day at a time.
Many of life’s routines are also shaped by the daily rhythm of our lives. We wake from sleep.
We prepare for the day. We use the day for its various activities. Meals sort themselves out
through the day. We prepare for and then enter into the sleep that brings us around the
cycle to the new day. A day seems like a manageable portion of time. It is a useful unit for
living life.
For Christians, each day also presents the opportunity to spend time in prayer with God.
And over time Christians have developed the practice of daily devotions. Taking a small
amount of time each day to turn our attention to God is a valuable discipline for Christians.
Here are some reasons why the practice of daily devotion is so useful for Christians.
1. It establishes time with God in our daily pattern helping us to remember the
priority of faith.
2. It gives us a chance to connect the challenges of this day with God’s daily support.
3. It helps us to be in Scriptures each day.
4. It exposes us to the thoughts of other Christians the may link to our daily concerns.
5. It gives us an opportunity to turn to God in prayer with the issues that face us
today.
We know that faith in God is a crucial part of our lives. But, it is easy to build this up into a
huge task that we put off for another day. Through the daily devotion we make the actions of
faith into little manageable chunks that can be handled quickly day after day. It is important
to not try to make this up each day. That soon becomes an overwhelming challenge that will
end in failure. Instead, use a devotional guide that has been prepared to lead Christians
quickly and easily through their daily devotion. Our congregation provides “Portals of
Prayer” as a devotional guide for our members. But there are many devotional guides that
can be purchased in bookstores or found on the Internet.
Normally a daily devotion includes reading a few verses of Scripture. Then the author of the
guide will share a reflection on those verses. Finally the devotional will give some guidance
for prayers. We are all different and our needs for guidance in our devotional prayer life is
different. Everyone should feel free to try different guides.
Let Us Pray
Dear Lord, We ask for healing and comfort for our friends and family:
Briggs Thykeson, Arlie Strand, Sandy Braaten, Ed Hoyt,
Jim Flaten, Merideth Sorensen, Alice L. Strand,
Roxanne Ludwig, Alice Strand, David Walker and Dennis Groven.
Into your hands O Lord we commend all those for who we pray, in the name of
your Son Jesus Christ, Amen
Only guides that encourage one’s devotional life should be used regularly. And be aware
that at different seasons of life different devotional guides may be more helpful and timely.
For instance in a time of stress and worry a guide that emphasizes God’s supporting love
may be just the thing. Whereas when facing important decisions guides that help us to
consider God’s leading may work better. We should expect and treasure the way daily
devotions tend to speak to our lives both with God’s support and his challenges. Each
person needs to find the daily guide and devotional method that works best for them.
But I, O Lord, cry to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you. (Psalm
88:13)

Remember to check out the new
online product that enables mem-
bers to manage their congregation-
al giving using their computers
and/or cell phones. It is an additional option to the other ways members
have always given monetary gifts to Aurdal.
The Give Plus application allows users to directly give
money from their bank accounts on a one time basis
or as a reoccurring scheduled gift. Representatives of
the council have worked with the makers of Give Plus
to set up a system that is tailored specifically for
Aurdal’s needs. This will permit givers to designate
the funds where they want their gift to go.
Dear Aurdal Congregation,
Thank you so much for the generous gift I received
for Pastor Appreciation. I am so blessed that God
has called me to be here at Aurdal! You all have
truly become a family for us. May God bless you as
we continue to move forward together!
Thank you again!
In His Grip,
Pastor Karen Seifert
CASA DE NINOS
Our mission is to provide a loving family atmosphere. God has giv-
en us countless opportunities to be a help to families, lives of chil-
dren, and teens that are in their time of adjusting to life in this cha-
otic world. Our goal is to have an impact on their lives from the
moment they enter our gates. There are more and more persons in
society that do not know love; have never experienced tender lov-
ing care. We have been providing love to our kids long enough now
that many children have returned to visit the home they remember with fondness, and to thank us
for the love they received while here. They often portray their time with us as the sole bright spot, or
a changed focus of an otherwise troubled childhood. We are "a refuge in times of great need" to many
lives. Supporting our wonderful work financially is a great way to be involved working with
us! We can only continue to provide for all the needs (physical, academic, emotional, and spiritual) of
these precious lives because of your willingness to support financially. God has blessed and sustained
us for many years, but always through people like you who come alongside our work and provide the
nuts and bolts (a bed, toothpaste, medicines, nutritious hot meals, etc.) of daily living so we can con-
tinue to give many lives a safe place full of God’s peace and love.
Casa De Ninos is a mission that was visited by members of
our congregation several years ago. Sunday, November 24th
Russ and Irma Krube will be hear to give us an update about
the mission during worship. We will also have an opportuni-
ty to visit with them after worship during a time of coffee and
treats.

The sole support of Casa de Niño's is through financial gifts and monthly contributions coming from
individuals, businesses, organizations, and churches. Our expenses are many and varied, principally
because from the time a child enters our home all their needs are met by the Casa directly. Those needs
can and have extended to cover not only basic necessities such as food or clothing, but visits to places of
therapy and hospitalization for children with more dire needs. We do not have a golden parachute, but
we actually have something better – you as a donor under God’s direction. As the Holy Spirit leads you,
please consider if and how you may help us. We thank you in advance. May you be richly blessed by
your participation with us at the Casa in supporting God’s children in Tepic, Mexico.
While ministering in the prison in
Tepic in 1968, the late Dr. Frank Gonzales saw several little
boys among the inmates. Upon questioning the warden, he
was told that the boys were homeless street children. Since
there was no children's home in the entire state of Nayarit,
they had no choice but to put the boys in with the adult
prisoners. Right there the Lord placed the burden on
Frank's heart to open a home for orphaned and abandoned
children. In 1970 because of God's faithfulness and many
caring people, ground was broken for the Casa de Niños.
Frank traveled throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico
with his singing group, spreading the "good news" of the
gospel of Jesus Christ and raising support for the orphan-
age. On April 6, 1994, Frank was called to his eternal re-
ward, but the vision God gave him for the children lives on
at Casa de Niños Frank Gonzales.
