En la mitología griega, el aulós fue inventado por Atenea. El aulós era el más importante de los instrumentos de viento.Estaba relacionado con el culto a Dioniso y a Cibeles y rivalizaba en importancia con la lira, asociada al dios Apolo.Hasta mediados del siglo XX fue confundido con la trompa o más corriente con la flauta.

In Greek Mythology, Athena invented the Aulos. It was the most important woodwind instrument.It was related to Dionysus and Cibeles. Another was the lyre, closely linked to the sun and Apollo.People thought it was a French horn or even a flute until half of the 20th century.
