MAKE THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS OF SUMMER THE BEST YETIt’s the final stretch before we are back into the world of books, tests, and homework, but what’s the positive side of all this? Key Club is back in session!
Hi again Division 64!
I hate to be that one person to bring it up, but yes, summer is
almost over. No more falling asleep in the AM and waking up in
the PM. No more laying out in the sun for hours and hours doing
nothing. No more seeing your friends more than your own family.
It’s sad, but true.
Good news is that for a lot of us, we only have one year of
high school left! In less than 10 months we will be in caps and
gowns, walking down the halls of our high schools for the very last
time. Keep this in mind as we fight through first semester, college
apps, and other important decisions.
And for those of you who have 2, 3, or even 4 years left in
high school, it’ll be over very very soon. One useful tip I’d give is to
take advantage of everything your school offers. Try out different
sports, go to different games and shows that you normally wouldn’t
go to, talk and make friends with new people, take challenging
classes, and be involved. No matter how fast you want to get out of
high school, you’ll regret not having done more of what you
could’ve done.
Speaking of trying new things, we need to all put our bright
minds together to think of new recruitment ideas for Key Club.
Freshmen are the target. They come into high school scared and
frightened. We should be the role models that help them through
the incredibly confusing year that we all had to endure.
Until next time,
BE EXCITED. BE MOTIVATED. BE ENTHUSIASTIC. BE
KIND. BE GENEROUS. BE HUMBLE. BE SELFLESS.
In love and service,
Rosaline Jun

Packing beans, posing for pictures, helping the hungry. For our July DCM, we went to the
Oregon Food Bank in Beaverton to help
package food that will be distributed within
the Washington County and also throughout
the state. By volunteering only about an hour
and a half, we were able to package 2423
meals. That’s 73 meals per volunteer! I
suggest coming here again with your club!

Key Leader is from Oct. 5-7 at Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp..... Will you be there?
Key Leader is a weekend experiential leadership
program for today's young leaders. This life-changing
event focuses on service leadership as the first, most
meaningful leadership-development experience. A Key
Leader will learn the most important lesson of
leadership—it comes from helping others succeed.
Participants begin by attending a Key Leader
conference, which is a weekend retreat. Large and small
group workshops, discussions and team-building
activities take place over the course of the weekend.
Students have opportunities to learn leadership skills
that will help them to change their schools,
communities, and world for the better. While exploring
leadership in a whole new way, participants will make
amazing new friends and have experiences they will
never forget. Positive, ongoing interaction with other
Key Leader graduates offers continuing reinforcement,
encouragement and growth of leadership skills.
On the left is the “What is Key Leader?” explanation on
the Key Leader website. It’s basically a conference where
other Key Clubbers from around your area meet to
learn leadership skills, meet new friends, and continue
to build their home clubs.
I’ve only heard amazing things from people I know that
have attended Key Leader. The activities are worthwhile
and fun, the food is great, and you get a lot of time to
bond with other people that live or go to school near
you.
I encourage as many people to go to Key Leader as
possible this year. Prices and transportation can be
discussed at future DCMs, but if you are at all
interested in attending with me and several other
Division 64 Key Clubbers, let me know! Also, check out
the website at www.key-leader.org.

Whoever emails back the answers to these riddles first will get a prize at the next DCM!
You throw away the outside and cook the inside. Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside. What did you just eat?
What goes around the world but stays in a corner?
August DCM
August DCM will be a joint-divisional DCM with Division 62 and Division 66! That means you’ll get to meet a ton of other Key Clubbers from the Portland area! Keep your eye out for the date!
HURRY! EMAIL ME BACK!
