August Greetings Bronco Families,

As we enter the 2021-2022 school year, I am excited that we get tobegin on August 25 in person! Our kids need to get back to a normalroutine of getting up, going to class, doing homework, participating inextracurricular fun, and interacting with their friends. Our mantrathis year is "Every Minute Counts" and we hope to take advantage of each and every one of the nearly 83,000minutes that our Broncos are on campus this year. I started doing aweekly "Top Ten" last year and I'm going to continue that trendagain this year.

Here we go:

1. Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 25. Students canbegin being dropped off at 8:45 am and those riding busesshould be at your bus stop at least 10-15 minutes early. Pleasebe patient in the car rider line and waiting for buses as we

always have glitches and delays during the first week of school.2. Afternoon car riders should line up from the Hough side of

Bailey road in the middle lane to help avoid traffic back-upat the 115 and Bailey Road intersection. Cornelius PoliceOfficers will be directing traffic at Bailey Road Park toavoid back-ups. Again, please be patient and follow theirtraffic direction.

3. We sent out a safety protocol one pager in the back to schoolmailing. Students will be required to wear masks indoors, butdo not need to wear masks outside. We will also need to split uplunches to maintain required social distancing in the cafeteria.

4. All important documents are located on our website under the"Back To School Forms/Info " link.

5. If you have not completed the online Blue Emergency Card, please do so before the first day of school. (Link)

6. If you have not paid the $30 student fee, please do sobefore the first day of school.

7. Students will bring home two very important items each day. Their brand new Chromebook, which needs charged nightly andtheir agenda, which needs checked nightly. Parents will need toread, sign, and return the Chromebook ResponsibilityAcknowledgement Form that students will bring home on thefirst day with their Chromebook and charger.

8. Students will not use lockers this year so teachers will helpguide students on what to bring during the first few days ofschool. Please only send basic supplies on the first few days sobook bags are not overloaded. A backpack with padded area fortheir Chromebook is recommended to help protect their device.

9. We will not be using locker room for students to change forgym classes to start the year (This may change later). Therefore, Bailey PE shirts will not be required for 6th gradestudents, nor will a Bailey shirt for 7th & 8th as usual. Werecommend that you guide your Bronco on what to wear on PEdays, which can still be a Bailey shirt or Bailey PE shirt.

10. We will be selling our Bailey Discount Cards again this year. Our Kick-off will be September 9 and the cost is still $10 percard. $6 Tenders meal returns

We had a great turn-out for our Open House and Bronco Round-upyesterday. Thank you for following our one parent guideline to keepcampus crowds and traffic to the best extent possible. Our teachersare excited to get started and partner with you to get our Broncosback on track for success in 2021-2022.

Oklahoma! Auditions: Sept. 7th and 8th, 4:30-6PM in the Drama Room (D7) Possible Callbacks: Sept. 9th at 8AM in the Drama Room (D7)

Performances: Nov. 18th at 7PM, Nov. 20th at 2PM and 6PM at Hough High School Rodgers and Hammerstein's first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, setting the standards and rules of modern musical theatre. In a Western territory just after the turn of the century, a high spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination, and the promise of a new land.

The Tempest by ShakpeareAuditions: January 6th and 7th from 4:30-6PM in the Drama Room (D7) Performances: March 18th or 19th at the NC Theatre Conference's Middle School Play Festival, and March 24th and 25th at 7PM at Hough High School

With an anime theme, William Shakespeare's The Tempest, follows the story of a sorcerer, Prospero, and his daughter, Miranda, banished on a deserted island with magical servants, the sprite, Ariel, and lizard monster, Caliban. Conjuring a shipwreck, Prospero seeks revenge on the King of Naples and Prospero's treacherous brother.

Into the Woods, Jr. Auditions: March 31st and April 1st from 4:30-6PM in the Drama Room (D7)

Performances: May 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd (times a locations TBD- the 22nd is a rain day)

Join us in an immersive Fairy Tale adventure, our first Spring Musical! The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse.
